Remember the days of the Trustee Savings Banks (TSB)?

For decades, TSB was the friendly, local face of banking for millions across the UK.
They were pioneers in teaching the value of saving, and icons like these gold and green globe banks were a cornerstone of their youth savings programs.

If you were a TSB kid, chances are you had one of these proudly displayed on your bookshelf, waiting to be filled.

Did you have a TSB globe? Let us know in the comments

Ever met a squirrel who was better at hoarding pennies than acorns?

Meet Super Squirrel! Long before digital banking apps, this caped crusader was the face of the Bank of Scotland’s junior savings accounts. Designed to make "stashing" cash fun for kids, this mascot turned the chore of saving into a heroic mission.

Whether you grew up with one on your nightstand or you're seeing him for the first time, Super Squirrel is a true icon of Scottish financial history.

Ever wondered how people saved before mobile banking?

This sturdy metal "thrift box" from the Bolton Savings Bank was the 20th-century version of a savings app! Banks would give these to families to encourage saving at home. The catch? Only the bank held the key. Once your box was full, you’d take it to the branch to be unlocked and deposited.

You can see this piece of history and over 300 other savings banks from across the globe at the Henry Duncan Savings Bank Museum!

Visit Us:
Explore the birthplace of the modern savings bank and the legacy of the man who started it all, Rev. Dr. Henry Duncan.
