Mitchell's Red Diamond Cola or Gilbert Rae's famous Ginger Ale - which would you choose to sip on?

Dunfermline town centre was once home to both of these well-known aerated drinks companies. Mitchell's was founded in 1938 and operated from its original premises in Pilmuir Street for over 50 years. Gilbert Rae set up his business back in 1868 and goods from his company's huge Baldridge Works were delivered to customers all over Britain. You'll find these and more information on both companies in the Leisure and Recreation area of our museum.

πŸ™ 😍 🌱Jump into June, with our new series of Wellbeing at the Museum workshops 🌱😍 πŸ™

Join facilitator Sarah Diver for a workshop exploring print, pattern and place. Using ready made block prints and your own designs, we will create a series of colourful prints on linen inspired by the museum's exhibitions and the local area. These sessions are open to everyone - no skills required. Just curiosity and a willingness to explore! If you experience feelings of social anxiety or find it difficult being in social situations then these sessions are specially designed to make you feel welcome, unpressured and free to express yourself.

The first session is on Friday 5th June 10:15am - 12:00pm and the following five sessions will be held on successive Fridays. Booking is essential. To sign up, just contact us at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries on (01383) 602365 or email [email protected] See less

Excitement is mounting for Dunfermline Athletic's game in the Scottish Cup Final this Saturday and we've been welcoming lots of visitors to our DAFC display in the Local History Department. If you haven't been yet, come along and see our collection of photographs, matchday programmes and other Pars memorabilia. The icing on the cake is this - the Cottage Hospital Challenge Cup, won by Dunfermline in 1896 and on display to the public for the very first time. Let's hope there's another cup coming back to the city this weekend.
