Good evening you lovely lot hope you are all well.
What a cracking day it was today with visitors all over the site today.
Rain first thing but cleared away to end up being a great day.

As well as the usual SVBM guide Sunday tours we also had the Retrosh*te guys on for their monthly meet and the Scottish All Rover Rally showing off their metal too.

Big Dave was up to pressure early this morning for working the narrow gauge line and D2650 was again on the standard brake van runs.
With everything else happening we also had our doors open day where you could get a guided tour round some of our stock and places usually visitors don't see.

As usual we still managed a wee bit of work today.
MOD 251 was moved out the shed so the window frame could be refitted. With a master class from Calum in the Lothian shed it was soon in. Just has to be left for a bit now to settle on before the filler strip gets fitted.

The shed side button for the gate lock now has a shroud and a post to be attached to.
Also a donation of a penguin 🐧 block which looks quite at home in the signal box.

That's pretty much it as everyone else was on duty for the doors open event.

Join us again on Wednesday where normal service will resume.

Cheers the shed47 team 👍🏻

Good Afternoon folks, we hope you are all well and enjoying this wondefull spell of weather, I know we certainly are at the shed, lots getting done whilst we have some sun.

One of the volunteers is working on a new system for the staff crossing at the shed after being inspired by a post he saw on another railway page, this will be connected to and monitored by the signal box staff and control the crossing when we are operating which should provide another layer of safety for our volunteers and indeed the public by preventing trespass via this access point. most of the parts are now in stock so the building will be starting shortly followed by lots of testing and then training for both operators and users.

A little job on the station today which saw a cctv camera added to the platform which allows the signaling staff a good clear view of the train and the guard when they are despatching trains, it will also help provide a layer of safety to the site in general. the cable for the camera feed was routed in a new length of conduit that was installed down the corner of the west end of the platform. this also now carries the feed cable for the OFF sign under the station cannopy which was previously tacked to the station building. another wee job done.

Mr Jeffs and Mr Murray were busy with the brushes and making good use of the dry wether, Iain was getting another coat of Madder on the traggon which is really showing a nice depth to the colour now, Dave was getting more varnish applied to the benches and seats which really do look nice with the varnished hardwood slats.

Norrie and co were busy finishing up the sorting of the fastners that came from DB's facility in glasgow, thanks to our chums at the SVBM we were donated a massive ammount of not just fastners but also grease and oil which will all be put to good use.

The narrow gauge guys were busy as always along at the triangle site getting the western feed from the head shunt turnout laid and ballasted, today saw a short pannel added to the road which just about brings it to the side of the access road where the level crossing will be, it will then go through the Y point and onto the bridge before tuning west back to the station, the guys have put in a massive ammount of work and must be commended for what they have acheived so far.

And that as they say is that, see you all on Sunday when we have our behind the scenes tours of the workshop and narrow gauge sheds and we also have the guys from Retrosh*te on site with all of their pre 2000 vehicles, and dont forget the bus museum is open as always where you can get a guided tour of the site whilst traveling on a vintage bus followed by a hot or cold drink and a snack in the Cafe, whats not to like...

Well here wee go.
Quick one tonight as it was quite quiet today due to great weather and bank holiday weekend the majority of folk were probably away to the beaches and coastal towns.

We still ran trains although to a shortened timetable today.
D2650 was out on the standard gauge while Eloise was on the narrow gauge runs.

Job wise, work continued on the Traggons paint.
The garden chairs and benches got some varnish applied.

The Xmas tree was being fitted to No29.

The narrow gauge guys finished the ballasting at the east end buffer stop.

And some strimmimg took place on the standard gauge line to tidy the place up. Hopefully we should get the weedkiller train out next Sunday.

Well that's it for a hot and quiet days work at the shed. Enjoy the rest of the long weekend and we shall see you all again on Wednesday.

Good evening everyone and welcome once more to the midweek update from the shed.

First oreder of business is No29, Her steam manifols is back after being away for some modifications, it is now ready to be refitted and we can crack on with getting the all the associated pipework jointed and installed.

Norrie brought in the hornby clockwork loco's that were saved from the skip, they are now in good working order and have been cleaned up but he has left the patina alone, we also have a quantity of track so shall put together a set that will be for sale in the shop.

The signaling boys were busy pulling more cables with a new 8 core feed from the location cabinet to the station and a pair of 8 cores run under the floor from the relay cupboard to the junction box outside. these will be used for various applications and as spare ways incase of failures.

The wood shop were busy sorting out the bell blocks for the traggon, these had a groove added to the back of them so they are exactley the same pattern as the origionals and can be wired in the future.

Andy was busy in the yard with the chop saw filling more boxes with fire wood, with the heat wave comming soon this will be needed to keep the workshop toasty.

The narrow gauge were upto lots but i didnt manage any pics of their shenanigans so we will just have to assume they were very busy and did lots of good stuff.

And that is your lot for tonight folks, see you all soon for the next thrilling instalment of "the man with the tan hand"

Cheers, The Shed 47 Team.

Good evening everyone. Hope you've all had a good weekend.

Well today was a mixed bag weather wise. Sunny and rainy, cold then warm. Only thing we didn't have today was snow 🌨️😂

The SVBM hosted their half cab event today which was pretty well attended and we did not to bad today also with a few new faces in theix with some of our regular visitors.

Big Dave was out on the narrow gauge line while D2650 did the runs on the standard gauge.

Not much in the way of work done today although the guys in the workshop were sifting there way through a big donation of nuts, bolts, washers and split pins.

A wee bit of filler done on the Traggon again to touch it up and that's about it.

A Donation from Bill Bradshaw of a speed limit box sign that used to be at Dunfermline upper.
And one of our own volunteers brought in an old ballast fork he found on the Fordell estate waggonway. These will go on display in the museum.

Right that's it I think time for tea and a wee nap
See you all again soon.

Cheers the shed47 team 👍🏻
