Fairy Glen B&B, Isle of Skye

Going to take a wee break at the end of the week. It has been very busy but lovely reviews from guests make it worthwhile.

We had an exceptional experience staying with Anne and Gordon. They truly are expert hosts. Their place is beautiful and Anne clearly has an eye for design as the room is the most stylish we stayed in on the whole trip. They have given attention to every detail - even adding special protectors to the corners of the bed and table so you can't bump yourself. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. Everything is sparkling clean. The breakfast options were endless and the mini fridge in the room was very convenient. We loved hiking all the waterfalls behind the house. It was a welcome break from all the busy tourist spots. The location also means you're 5 minutes from the Fairy Glen, so we got to visit early in the morning and had the pleasure of having it to ourselves. Most of all, I so appreciated all the time Anne and Gordon spent visiting with us (because we wanted to visit). I will always have happy memories of being curled up on their couch in front of the fire sharing a dram, stories and laughs. The room was like staying at a hotel, but the company was like staying with friends. We would definitely book again.

Lovely guests from Switzerland who even stripped all the beds and left Swiss chocolates. Only wish the weather could have been a bit better!

Love reading reviews from guests - Great breakfast to fuel us up for exploring Isle of Skye. We walked in early morning and at sunset to visit the Fairy Glen next door. So magical. Our teens loved the nearby sheep and chocolate treats in the afternoon. The best was our hosts gave us the best tips on where to hike and explore. We went on an amazing hike with no crowds. Best value and location during our stay in Scotland. Nearby Uig was more beautiful than expected, as well.

Today will possibly be the busiest day on Skye. The Skye Highland Games are on http://www.skye-highland-games.co.uk/ Tonight we welcome guests from Utah, the last week our guests were from Luxembourg, Portugal & Australia, we welcome guests from all over the world.

So many of our guests want to do the Old Man of Storr, Fairy Pools and find that it's not what they expect with the sheer numbers that do the same thing. They usually have one day to spend in Skye. We had guests that wanted us to suggest something different. They are in Uig so the North end tour is a must. They went to the Rha waterfall, Museum of Island Life, other Kilmuir sites, Duntulm Castle, The Quiraing, Staffin Beach, Kilt Rock, saw the Old Man of Storr and then onto Borve, Waternish, Trumpan Church, lunch in Stein, Skyskyns, saw Dunvegan Castle, stopped of where they wanted to, walked a bit and had a really lovely day. They finished the day off by a late walk in the Fairy Glen.The night before they checked in, headed to Portree and did the Whisky Walking Tour and dinner in the Portree Hotel. They felt they had seen a lot of Skye in a short time, avoided the crowds mostly, had a great experience rather than follow the tick box tourist and hope to come back.
