In this exhibition we are honoring the memory of one of our creatives. Carol James sadly lost her battle to breast cancer in 2024. Carol was a jewellery maker and archaeologist with a great fascination in ancient rock art. She had a vibrant soul that would lift the mood in any room. Some of you will remember her in the gallery and some of you will already own a piece of her jewellery.

Carol’s family have passed on her collection to feature in our Taith Ardudwy exhibition. Here we have the Llanbedr spiral, which was discovered on the hills above Dyffryn Ardudwy. The stone is now stored in St Peter’s Church in Llanbedr. The jewellery replicates the original carved spiral and cupmark detail on the stone surface. The ancient rock art dates back to 3000 - 2300 cal. BC. It is fascinating to look back at our past and Carol was able to connect her interest in rock art and the landscape into her jewellery. Carol’s legacy collection is available in the gallery and our online store with a much wider range and it is great to share the news that on the 7 June George Nash who worked closely with Carol over the years will be coming to do a talk in the village hall here. The talk is called ‘Making Sense of the Burial and Ritual Practices of Communities that Lived in Wales 6000 years ago’. If you don’t know, George is an Associate Professor, Author, Archaeologist and specialist in Prehistoric and Contemporary Art. You can find out more about Carol and view her jewellery here: https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/carol-james. If you would like tickets to see George Nash for just £6 and we hope you do follow this link: https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/event-details-registration/george-nash

On Saturday 23 May we welcome Kiran Sharma who will be our artist in residence for the day. Kiran is exhibiting in our current Taith Ardudwy exhibition with three artworks sold already from this collection. A primary concern for this body of work was to place the humble human figure against the weathering enduring shape of the land. Contours of the body echo elemental patterns of land, sea and rock that can be viewed along the way.

The light, shape, form and rhythm to these works stand out. Subtle yet beautifully strong with underlying connotations to the geology, ancient history, dreams, myths and legends that present themselves in this landscape.

You can meet Kiran between 10:30 and 16:30 where you can watch her working on her latest artworks and there will also be a few additional pieces for sale on the day only. You can find out more about Kiran and view her artworks here: https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/kiran-sharma-taithardudwy

We look forward to giving you a warm welcome on Saturday.

Ar ddydd Sadwrn 23 Mai, byddwn yn croesawu Kiran Sharma a fydd yn artist preswyl i ni am y diwrnod. Mae Kiran yn arddangos yn ein harddangosfa Taith Ardudwy gyfredol gyda thri darn o waith eisoes wedi’u gwerthu o’r casgliad yma. Un o brif ystyriaethau y corff yma o waith oedd gosod y ffigur dynol gwylaidd yn erbyn ffurf parhaol y tir. Mae amlinelliadau’r corff yn adleisio patrymau elfennol o dir, môr a chreigiau y gellir eu gweld ar hyd y ffordd.

Mae golau, siâp, ffurf a rhythm y gwaith yma yn sefyll allan. Cynnil ond yn brydferth o gryf gyda agweddau daearegol sylfaenol, hanes hynafol, breuddwydion, mythau a chwedlau sy’n amlygu eu hunain yn y dirwedd.

Gallwch gwrdd â Kiran rhwng 10:30 a 16:30 lle gallwch ei gwylio’n gweithio ar ei gwaith celf diweddaraf a bydd hefyd ychydig o ddarnau ychwanegol ar werth ar y diwrnod yn unig. Gallwch ddysgu mwy am Kiran a gweld ei gwaith yma: https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/kiran-sharma-taithardudwy

Edrychwn ymlaen at roi croeso cynnes i chi ddydd Sadwrn.

“When a landscape becomes meaningful to you, it gets under your skin to create vivid memories. My paintings and process represent an emotional response to landscape…” Helen Arthur, 2026

This trio of paintings inspired by winter scenes is based on the north end of the Taith Ardudwy near Llandecwyn. Helen's choice of bold colour and texture bring a liveliness to these works that warm the reader. The wild light in the Rhinogydd, where Helen has been walking since her teens, impacts her creativity in an inescapable way. One can see Harlech Castle in the distance and the rusty colour of winter’s bracken against the snow. It is easy to imagine yourself immersed in the landscape and walking this very ancient path.

These artworks are sold individually but would make a fabulous set on your wall. To find out more about Helen and her available works follow the link:https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/helen-arthur

“Pan fydd tirwedd yn dod yn ystyrlon i chi, mae'n mynd o dan eich croen i greu atgofion byw. Mae fy mhaentiadau a'm proses yn cynrychioli ymateb emosiynol i dirwedd…” Helen Arthur, 2026

Mae'r triawd hwn o baentiadau wedi'u hysbrydoli gan olygfeydd gaeaf wedi'i leoli ar ben gogleddol Taith Ardudwy ger Llandecwyn. Mae dewis Helen o liw a gwead beiddgar yn dod â bywiogrwydd i'r gwaith hyn sy'n cynhesu'r arsyllydd. Mae'r golau gwyllt yn y Rhinogydd, lle mae Helen wedi bod yn cerdded ers ei harddegau, yn effeithio ar ei chreadigrwydd mewn ffordd anochel. Gellir gweld Castell Harlech yn y pellter a lliw rhydlyd rhedyn y gaeaf yn erbyn yr eira. Mae'n hawdd dychmygu eich hun wedi'ch trochi yn y dirwedd ac yn cerdded y llwybr hynafol iawn hwn.

Mae'r gweithiau celf hyn yn cael eu gwerthu'n unigol ond byddent yn gwneud casgliad gwych ar eich wal. I gael gwybod mwy am Helen a'i gwaith sydd ar gael dilynwch y ddolen:https://www.tymeirion.co.uk/helen-arthur

Same Artist! Same Subject! Diverse Talent!

Naomi Bunker shows us how artists can work in different media with extraordinary results. Here Naomi explores Branwen from the story of the Mabinogi in Welsh mythology. The story is based near here in Harlech and was created exclusively for the Taith Ardudwy exhibition.

For anyone interested in collecting art based on Welsh mythology and folklore then these artworks are well worth a closer inspection.

We are open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10:30 to 16:30.
