The third trimester of my pregnancy has hit me in recent weeks… I’m definitely more tired, more insomnia, more pains, more forgetful, more hunger!!! BUT accompanied by the most wonderful movements of our baby girl. Not everyone has this joy and privilege, or gets to experience it - growing a little one in your body! It’s wild. It’s definitely weird! But so wonderful that it is my joy to experience, and I get to do it while building my little art business. All the likes, shares and views help, and mean so much! So thank you 🙏🏼 🧡

“Field of Poppies” Remembrance Sunday - 60x60cm - watercolour, ink, gouache, and acrylic - on stretched canvas

As mentioned in my husband’s commentary to the making of this artwork, there were endless layers due to using an ink background. The ink just kept pulling through as I knew it would since it always does! But I wanted the red to explode! So eventually, I gave up on watercolour and gouache red, and went with acrylic red. This still took many layers to achieve the vibrancy you now see!

There could be some symbolism to the many layers, that it’s been many decades since the end of the world wars, but the soldiers lost are no less forgotten… and may live stronger in our hearts and minds in these troubling days as we pray they are not repeated.

“Autumn Canopy” - ink, watercolour, gouache and acrylic - on stretched canvas

Another one of those old canvas paintings I’ve recycled with a little (or a lot) of gesso. It’s interesting the shapes and turns trees can take when they are growing up in the thick of the woods trying to reach the light. We can learn a lot from trees, how they communicate, what they communicate and their community. I think today, I’ve been quite tired from being busy and growing a little one, and comforted that I can rely on the strength of those around me; I don’t have to do everything myself - much like trees in community - I’ll reach the light at the top with a little help from my community 🧡

I hope you enjoyed my husband’s contribution to the reveal of this one on my previous reel! He is a delight!

We had a lot of family visits this summer, and I lost count how many times we took them to Durdle Door and the stunning coastline of Dorset. It can’t be beat. A customer told me yesterday, that it is the only “door” arch in the UK! I had no idea. I’ve seen the coastline to much of Britain, and it’s true I’ve never seen a place like Durdle Door. And I am blessed to live near it!
