There are still a few spaces left to join Siobhan McLaughlin on June 6th

Take time to slow down and immerse yourselves Siobhan McLaughlin’s practice with a guided walk across The Bings. The artist will walk us up the Greendykes bings, speaking about how she uses earth pigments to create a tactile and material element within her practice.

As part of this short workshop, you’ll be encouraged to slow down, be attentive and listen to the landscape. The session will explore walking as research, sharing and conversation in the uncanny setting of these red mountains.

Book your ticket via the link in our bio, limited capacity. Age restriction: 12+, under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note: walking on the Bings is very challenging. We will be walking for around 45 minutes in strenuous conditions, along a steep path. Please come equipped for the walk, in comfortable walking shoes and waterproofs. If you are not able to walk on the Bings, please do join us for a fully accessible workshop with Siobhan McLaughlin at Jupiter on Saturday 27 June.

Meeting point and parking details will be shared with participants.

In Pride, In Piety, In Vigilance by Irish artist and performer Sgàire Wood () will be presented in the Steadings Gallery this Summer 🐆🩵

This new commission utilises heraldic symbolism and pop-culture iconography to examine notions of heritage, tradition and violence.

Wood positions heraldic beasts as representations of the precarity and oppression faced by a population navigating the rise of fascism.

Her large-scale sculptures examine the grave and abject alongside the glamourous, humorous and sensual, prompting us to question the significance hiding beneath the decorative.

Drawing upon her upbringing in the North of Ireland, Wood employs the iconography of sectarianism to strip the relationship between image and ideology to its core. Her work takes a frank, but hopeful, look at current political urgencies, while leaving room for humour and the possibility of solidarity and transcendence.

JUPITER+ is coming to Dumfries!

Award-winning artist Lindsey Mendick will transform a vacant high street shop in Dumfries, bringing Growing Pains - an immersive artwork that explores social class, vulnerability and formative experiences relating to place and home.

"After the incarnation of Growing Pains in Dundee, I’m so excited to be going to Dumfries. It is going to be incredible to have this piece as part of the Dumfries landscape and to share it with the community there. Having this work tour Scotland and ensuring young people can see it across the country has been so important to me and the work itself." - Lindsey Mendick

JUPITER+ Dumfries opens July 27 until December 6 2026.

You can bring your group to JUPITER+ for free. There are free tours and workshops tailored to your students/group and their learning journeys.

Each session will start with a critical ‘deep dive’ into Growing Pains. Inspired by the concepts contained within the artwork, students will be invited to experiment and explore the creative possibilities through a practical workshop within our purpose-built learning studio, all delivered and facilitated by our JUPITER+ Learning Team!
