Eynsham Art Window

Eynsham Art Window The Eynsham Art Window began in November 2020 and ran until July 2023. It is now closed. It was entirely Alison’s decision as to what could be displayed.

(Note: as the Eynsham Art Window is now closed, this text is left here for archival purposes.) ABOUT
The Eynsham Art Window was an a non-selling exhibition space at 66 Mill Street, Eynsham, Oxfordshire, independently owned, managed and curated by ceramicist Alison Holmans. The Eynsham Art Window was for the artists of Eynsham and nearby villages to showcase high quality original works of art. Peop

le viewing the window or online posts would contact the artists directly if they see something they like. It was a private gallery space run by Alison, and is not a part of Eynsham Arts Group, or any other community group. FOR ARTISTS
Artist living or working within 2 miles of Eynsham, producing high quality original artworks of significant artistic merit, were welcome to apply to show in the window. Alison considered also occasional guest artists from further afield in Oxfordshire to show their works alongside the Eynsham artists. SUBMISSIONS POLICY
Like all art galleries, the Eynsham Art Window had a stylistic ethos and tone which all submissions must be judged to meet. Artworks submitted had to be high quality original works of considerable artistic merit to be considered suitable. Submissions were subjectively judged by the EAW panel to have the right ‘fit and feel’. We understand there is an overlap between art and craft. Art displays imagination, originality, expression, and emotions, as well as significant skill in its creation. Many crafts require significant skill to be created, but lack some or all of the other elements.

Emma Hallmark Painting
Emma is only able to show at the Eynsham Sustainable Christmas Arts & Crafts Market for Saturday 6th. So if you are excited as I am about her coming you need to visit on the Saturday. But that gives you an excuse to come again to see the next artist on the Sunday. Emma will have her contact details and her work examples on show on the Sunday too.
Emma produces thoughtful work. It comes from her own experience and her use of colour texture and design is very special. She will be bringing along to the Sustainable Art and crafts fair handmade cards and works of art. All for sustainability Emma prefers not to send off to printers and her eye for colour and detail is all the better for it. You will for sure have unique pieces that offer a personal gift.
Emma creates painted, drawn & mixed media works based on an appreciation of nature and our surroundings.
She has a particular fascination with rivers & the sea.

Jane Tomlinson Painting
Jane is delighted to have moved back into Eynsham and become one with the community. Lucky for me she has helped rally the spirit and share the task of setting up the window display ready for The Eynsham Sustainable Arts & Craft Market 6th and 7th December

Mindful of local Folk lore Jane loves the way nature and people prepare for the chill and delight of the season.
Jane makes vibrant paintings of Mother Nature, birds, animals, trees, weather and teacups. Jane is perhaps best known for her quirky, original hand-painted maps.
Her paintings are available on a range of prints, tea towels, greetings cards, calendars, coasters and jigsaw puzzles and she even makes paper mache birds with the precision of her paintings.

Stay long enough for a 'Cuppa and a Chat' ( ohhh that reminds me of one of Jane's paintings) and indulge in something rich from Renata's wonder bakes.

Sheila Raven Jewellery/Sculpture
Sheila will be bringing her unique jewellery and metal sculptures to the Eynsham Xmas Arts & Crafts Market 6th and 7th December. I can't wait!

Sheila makes with precision. After years of archaeology she is aware of detail and the meaning to the maker. Each metal sculpture sits on an oak plinth and each earring, necklace or brooch is expertly crafted.
You are in for a treat. Come and stay a while have one of Ranata's home bakes ( maybe a pistachio muffin)and a hot drink alongside and stay long enough to make that important decision. What to choose?
Sheila creates unique jewellery and small metal sculpture pieces in silver, copper, and semi-precious stones.
Her career as an archaeologist studying ancient artefacts and her love of tribal art has inspired many of her pieces.
She also draws inspiration from the animals and trees of the British countryside.

Peter Shrimpton Industrial Sculpture artist has bought us 'a curved ball' as it were. A phenomenal seasonal wreath. Barbed wire and reptilian eyes. It casts an amazing shadow and the eyes sparkle and move outside in the sun and wind. (a health warning though, for those with children and pets. )

Peter plans on also making his safe metal wreaths, from the leaves of the oak, beech, Acer and grape. These are just beautiful and would look amazing throughout the year either inside or out. Be surprised as to what else, he will be bringing to the Eynsham Sustainable Christmas Market this weekend ( Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm)

We are delighted to have Mike and Rhonda at our Xmas Market this year. Rearing their Portland sheep for wool. These sheep who all have names, live a long and happy life on the Church Hanborough pastures. A family affair of the sheep growing and breeding ; Rhonda spinning; Mike weaving; Jonas modelling and making and of course Mabel (the dog) who keeps everyone in line and safe. You don't get more sustainable than this!

Take a peak in the Eynsham Market Window at Mill Street Arts to see a sample of what will be on show at the Market. (I know there is also some wool that is 'felted' for Christmas baubles and garlands. woven scarfs and hats.
On Sat 6th and Sunday 7th December. Stop by for a hot cuppa and one of Renata's savouries or cake and find out more. or email Mike at: [email protected]
