🕯️ Dark Histories at Callendar House: A Halloween Session in the Archives 🕯️

Step into the archives this Halloween and explore the darker side of Falkirk’s past… if you dare. 👀

Discover rarely seen historical records, photographs, and curiosities that reveal how our communities once confronted death, superstition, and the unknown. From body-snatching and mourning customs to murder trials and folklore, this immersive session brings the past to life in the eerie surroundings of Callendar House.

A highlight of the event is the display of a rare 200-year-old hand-coloured engraving of the “Danse Macabre”, or Dance of Death — an extraordinary find that captures the timeless idea that death comes for all, rich or poor alike.
