📷📷Paints: acrylic or oil (preferably low odour variety). You can bring along gouache and watercolours too if you choose to.
📷Colours, in order of priority: Process yellow or lemon or primary yellow, Process cyan, Process magenta, White (any variety except “mixing”) . Spend some time in the art shop or online and see which colours appeal to your own taste eg. blues: cobalt, ultramarine etc.; Reds: alizarin crimson, scarlet etc.; Yellows: buttercup, ochre etc.; Whites: titanium, flake. (I don’t recommend black as I find it isn’t necessary and spoils most paintings (!) but you are welcome to bring black along).
Water pots; Palette, or old plate for mixing paint on; Brushes: I use mainly bristle brushes in a variety of sizes but also pointed brushes can come in handy; Prepared stretcher/canvas for your main piece of work on the day; Sketch book; Pencil; White spirit if using oils; Kitchen paper or old rags

Once you’ve attended one session you’ll get a better idea of what you might want to bring along, and students are very happy to share their ideas about materials they would recommend. Aside from traditional art shops eg Fareham Galleries, and the Stoke Road Art shop in Gosport, there are many online eg Cass Art, Pullinger Art Supplies, Great Art and many, many more! Hunt around for a good price.
In my own studio, I also use watercolour pencils, acrylic glazes and mediums to change textures etc, PVA glue, tissue paper, cling film, glass paint, silk paint, and absolutely masses of brushes of every size and style – the list is almost endless!
