Black Swan Arts is in the heart of the renowned creative market town of Frome in Somerset. Our vibrant and varied programme features contemporary and innovative art and crafts. We are a popular arts venue for the creatives of Frome and beyond. Black Swan Arts has a courtyard cafe, shop, studio workshops, three exhibition spaces and studios/offices within the main building. It's a friendly place to

meet, run almost entirely by volunteers working together and we encourage everyone to support Frome's Art Centre in whatever way they can!

The Long Gallery

As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to present a series of 5, one-off special talks featuring artists with a close association with Black Swan Arts.

The first talk, on Sunday, May 31st at 4:00 p.m. will feature Jane Sheppard, a celebrated and widely-collected ceramicist.

Tickets cost £10 and are available online via the Black Swan Arts website and from our shop on Bridge Street, Frome.

Jane’s talk will take place in the Long Gallery, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

And finally, we’re delighted to introduce our fifth judge: .a.martin.

Molly Martin is an English artist based in London. Born in Somerset in 1991, she attended ‘The Meadow School’, Steiner School in Bruton for her primary education. Here, she developed a deep understanding for creative hand work, and developed a particular affinity to drawing and painting from a young age. She studied Illustration for her BA at Falmouth University College of Arts (2012-2014) and completed her Masters in Fine Art at City and Guilds London Art College in 2024.

Join us in The Long Gallery for the CLOSING HOUR to celebrate the success of THINK XL on Sunday 10 May 3 - 4 pm

Nature’s finest - donated to THINK XL, our 40th anniversary major fundraising exhibition by artists Paul Newman and Keith Wisbey.
Newman has long been inspired by the ancient landscape and stories of Wessex, alongside a fascination with the natural world.
Wisbey’s portfolio ranges from black and white portraiture to demonstrating his passion for photographing British wild birds in their natural habitats.

Introducing our fourth judge: Dea Vanagan.

Dea Vanagan is Senior Director of Hauser & Wirth Somerset, a world-class gallery and multi-purpose arts centre, providing a unique destination for experiencing art, architecture, and the rural landscape of Somerset. Dea was the Founding Artistic Director of the Bomb Factory Art Foundation, where she is now a Trustee. She is a trustee of Spike Island, a member of AWITA and an alumna of the Clore Leadership Programme.
