What if the world we know is only the surface?
Beyond the familiar shapes, places and perspectives of everyday life, there may be other realities existing just beyond our perception. Places that feel strangely recognisable, yet impossible to locate. Landscapes without geography. Architecture without a known purpose. Moments that appear to belong to another time, another dimension, or perhaps another version of our own world.
Where Reality Ends is an exploration of these imagined thresholds.
Dorota Domanska-Wiacek was born and raised in Biała Podlaska, a small town in eastern Poland. She came to England in 2004 and moved to Frome in 2010. The town’s lively artistic community helped unlock her creativity, leading her to develop the distinctive imagery presented here in her first exhibition.
Dora’s images seem to emerge from somewhere beyond the visible world. She takes the familiar and shifts it into something unexpected, creating scenes that sit somewhere between dream, memory and another dimension.
There is no single explanation for what we are seeing. Each image invites the viewer to look longer, to question what is real, and to imagine what might exist beyond the boundaries of ordinary perception.
These are not simply pictures of impossible places. They are glimpses into worlds that feel as though they have always existed, somewhere just out of reach.
Perhaps Dora is creating these worlds.
Or perhaps she is simply finding a way to see them.
