artpistol Mighty Fine Art. Representing & championing the best emerging & underknown artists in Scotland.

Art Pistol is the sort of Art Gallery that the internet, and Glasgow, needs - we hear you. Giving emerging artists a real shot, and generally promoting the very best of independent UK based artists. We've been online and popping up all over Glasgow and Scotland since 2011, before settling in the beautiful cobbled Cresswell Lane in Glasgow's welcoming West End. We also like to turn walls and windows into art as we create unique public art, street art, murals and artistic window graphics.

Art: The Anti Aging Hack.

Want to slow down the aging process? We’ve got you covered. Recent studies from the University of London show that visiting a gallery or simply spending more time with art could help you age more slowly. Brilliant!

Why not drop by this Sunday 31st May from 11-2pm or get in touch to arrange a visit and add a new tool to your longevity and wellness kit.

The main gallery wall showcases Callum Youde’s second distinctive collection of 7 paintings.

“Within these spaces, a visual language emerges that is deliberately simple, sometimes awkward, allowing emotion to surface without refinement. There is a childlike quality to the imagery: a sun drawn in quick lines, a house reduced to its most basic form, a flower or vessel rendered almost carelessly. These familiar forms act as fragments of recognition, while handwritten text introduces moments of intimacy and vulnerability”.

What begins as structure - grids, borders, divided surfaces - slowly unravels through spontaneous marks, handwritten notes and imperfect forms, creating paintings that feel both deeply personal and deliberately unresolved.

Callum Youde’s show ‘Soft Structures’ is officially open 🥳 It will run throughout May and June. Thank you to all who came to last night’s preview and made it such a fun night!

With 27 paintings filling the entire lower gallery, Callum has excelled himself. This is the first time we have housed a solo exhibition of this scale and we really hope you can come by and enjoy it in person.

For those further afield, here is the first of many curated looks at the work. Starting with a familiar style we have become accustomed to over the past 4/5 years from Callum. The chickens are gone (replaced by a dog) and we’re pleased to see the bikes, oranges, boat, flowers and sunshine still in full bloom. These works are happy and uplifting - curiously intriguing.

We hope you can join us in the gallery next Friday 8th May for the opening of Callum Youde’s brand new show Soft Structures. This is his second solo show with the gallery, and follows his sell out show in 2022.

The open evening will run from 6 to 9pm. All welcome.

“My work is informed by the everyday stories that unfold around me through the daily act of living. I draw from my immediate surroundings and the soundtracks that accompany my life - the things I see, the objects I use, the music I listen to, and the small, often overlooked details that shape routine and experience.

These paintings begin with simple structure – grids, borders and divided spaces - that suggest order and control. I use these frameworks as a way to organise the surface, then disrupt them with loose, instinctive marks that feel immediate and unfiltered. This push and pull reflects an ongoing negotiation between structure and spontaneity, control and instinct”.

This weekend, Eleanor Carlingford opens her first solo show of 2026 titled Chariots. Featuring 10 new oils on canvas.

“When I was young and living in a fishing town in Northern Ireland, the fish boxes were sturdy, made of wood. Although they stank of fish, and you had to sit amongst the scrapings of fish scales, they were fine treasures for the boys of the town. Frequently washed up on the shore, they were scavenged with purpose and made into race carts.

Two fish boxes, one of top of the other formed the body of a wee wagon. Pram wheels were added. Also necessary was a rudimentary steering column. I wanted so badly to have one of my own, but I was a girl. It would never happen”.

We hope you can join us for the preview opening this Sunday 26th April from 11 to 3pm. Please DM the gallery if you would like to come along, meet Eleanor and discover her new paintings

There has been a lot going on behind the scenes in the gallery. Planning the year ahead, chatting with new artists, and seeing what brand new work will be coming in.

To start we’re taking a retrospective look at young, rising Glasgow based artist Ellen Mitchinson’s work. She has consigned a number of original oils, prints and works on paper to her gallery collection.

We’ve got absolute top quality works in from print masters Rosie Emerson, Rosco Brittin and Richard Levine. Rosie’s beautiful, delicate figurative scenes evoke a surreal sense of calm and wonder. Rosco has a new collection of cheeky Fruity Fairies prints amongst some bird and floral works. And Richard Levine has an exclusive gallery release - a series of still life inspired graphic prints. Quite a departure from his iconic Snoopy and Disney characters.

And we’re delighted to welcome abstract artist Danny Davidson into the gallery. His paintings are inspired by the concept of Intra-action - the idea that things don’t act on their own, but are always shaped through their relationships with other things.

Watch this space as we expand upon each artist and their work over the coming month.
