We are small, local museum devoted to passing on knowledge on The Royal Highland Fusiliers, its history (their predecessors Highland Light Infantry and Royal Scots Fusiliers), people and impact. As well as sustaining memory of British troops all over the world, including regiment successors 2nd Bn The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

During the Great War (World War I) the silk postcard typically manufactured in France was popular with service members. These brief messages to a loved one back home or away in the war were made possible by several Postal reforms made during the Crimea War which allowed the British public to send mail for a penny.

This penny post spurred an increase in the literate rate of the common soldier. The desire to stay connected with family spread across the empire in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, coupled with the the postal reforms made in the mid-nineteenth century created an "army of writers" which has provide cultural institutions rare limps into the lives of ordinary people.

This Great War Jacket is a great example of innovations in military thought. With unique unit identification systems stitched onto their, uniforms command and control over the battlefield was increased... in theory. Unfortunately like all good ideas, battle is the ultimate test of these practices and this one quickly showed that warfare in the early twentieth century wasn't ready for this.

Private George Rodgers was awarded the Victoria Cross(VC)for his actions on 16th of June, 1858. He was the first recipient of the VC in the linage of the Royal Highland Fusiliers.
