Introducing a new craft in the gallery....
These gorgeous charcuterie boards are made by Branco Woodcraft Studio, run by husband and wife team Brano and Monika. The couple is based in Nairn and earlier this year, their studio was accepted as a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen - high praise indeed!
When a serious accident forced Brano to leave the world of mechanical engineering, he turned to woodworking to find new purpose. Using his professional knowledge, he designed these gorgeous boards. Attention to detail and superb finishing touches are the hallmarks of his work.
Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, he uses fractal burning, sending 2000 volts through the wood to create a scar. Then Brano applies gold, silver or copper leaf, followed by food-safe resin to seal the product. Finally, the boards are polished and finished with food-safe natural oil and wax.
They are so eye-catching and we are delighted to feature them in the studio. 💛
