Come and explore this museum housed in a converted Victorian herring curing works and take an exciting journey. Discover Great Yarmouth's fascinating history and contemporary life, its rich maritime and fishing heritage, some of the colourful characters who made their living from the sea and the people who live in Yarmouth now. Experience the heady atmosphere of a 1950s quayside, take the wheel of

a coastal Drifter and hear gripping tales of wreck and rescue on the high seas. Follow Great Yarmouth’s transformation from a sandbank to the present day, through times of boom and bust, war and peace, to the multicultural town of today.

We're all ready for our Pirate Day event here today!
Join us from 10am for lots of pirate related fun for all the family.
See the exhibition, meet pirate characters and then get creative with activities - all included in museum admission.

This half term why not take a trip on the high seas at Time and Tide Museum and come face-to-face with the characters in our exhibition ‘Pirates! Fact and Fiction’? From Saturday 23 May to Sunday 31 May we'll have self-led activities lined up for you in the galleries.

Plus we have a special event lined up: Thursday 28 May is Pirate Day!

All day (10am – 4.30pm)

🏴‍☠️ Make your own peg pirate craft activity

🏴‍☠️ Make your own pirate ship... and see if it floats!

11am – 3pm

🏴‍☠️Make a letterpress type pirate portrait with creative practitioner Donna Thompson

Watch out for pirate captain Will Jaggard who will be helping the team out throughout the day too!

All activities are included with general admission and free to Norfolk Museums Pass holders.

The museum is pleased to offer free entry for people who get means-tested benefits including Universal Credit and Pension Credit, and for all children in households receiving means-tested benefits.

Do you have experience of working with young people to plan and deliver activities in the museums, arts or cultural sectors?

Norfolk Museums Service wishes to appoint a dynamic Project Worker to join the Kick the Dust team. This role is part of the county wide youth engagement programme, based at Time & Tide Museum.

The project worker will facilitate impactful and sustained engagement with young people aged 13-25 years, including those most hard to reach.

This will involve working in partnership with YMCA Norfolk Norfolk Library and Information Service schools, colleges, universities, and other organisations looking to engage young people with creative heritage and environmental activities.

The role will involve some travel to Norfolk Museums Service venues across the county.

This post is funded by Arts Council England and will initially run until 31 March 2028.
