Calderdale Industrial Museum The museum is run by volunteer enthusiasts to share the industrial heritage of Calderdale with all. No booking required. Concessions £6.

The museum is open every Saturday 10am to 4pm, with last entry at 3pm. We are also open on Thursdays in the school holidays. We are situated near to Halifax railway station and the famous Eureka children’s museum, and next door to the newly renovated Piece Hall, the new central Library and Archive, and Square Chapel in the centre of Halifax’s growing ‘cultural quarter’. Access is to the side of th

e Museum via our newly installed ramp and stairs, internally there are stairs and a lift to all floors. Disabled Parking is available by prior request

Our new season of Wednesday Talks begins next week on September 9th, with the popular and entertaining Philip Hellawell returning to share his knowledge of our local railways. This time he is looking at Sowerby Bridge: Calderdale's Transport Hub.

The talk is in the Halifax Room at the museum, with doors opening at 7pm and the talk starting at 7.30pm. As always there will be refreshments for a donation of £1.
The talk is free to members and £5 to non-members.

As we finish our summer season, the new exhibition in the Terry Sutton Gallery is ready for opening on Saturday 5th September. Titled Weaving the Senses, it uses a mix of audio, visual and tactile experiences to explore and celebrate the collaboration of visually impaired and sighted artist-makers in an appreciation of moquette weaving in Calderdale. The exhibition runs until November 21st and is included in the museum admission charge.

We also have a new children's Light Bulb trail to help you explore and learn as you move around the museum and the steam engines in the Power Gallery will be running from 12 noon.

Machinery which helps tell the story of the Industrial Revolution in Calderdale can now be transferred from Bradford to Halifax, thanks to a recent award.

The museum is geared up for another day of Bradford Model Engineering Society. With fun for all ages, you can talk to the members about joining them. The museum is open as usual and we will be running the steam engines from about 12 o’clock.

We open at 10am with last entry at 3pm. The cafe will be open as usual for drinks, snacks and lunches.

The museum has been a hive of activity today as our friends from BMES arrived to set up ready for their regular annual visit. As always, you will find the Bradford Model Engineering Society members on the top floor with a selection of engines and in the yard with the boats, showing off their beautiful model engines. They will show you what they make and how you can get involved. Come along and see how much fun you can have. They are at the museum on Thursday and Saturday and its all included in our normal open day charges. As an added bonus we are running our steam engines in the Power Gallery on Saturday from about 12 noon until 3pm with a lunch break at 1.30pm - 2.00pm.
