Our courses and workshops for June/ July are now live on our website.

Alongside our much-loved favourites, you’ll find a brand-new Mixed Media Course. In these fun and playful sessions, you’ll experiment with different materials and celebrate the joy of discovery over the pressure of perfection.

If you’re looking for a way to slow down and reconnect with the natural world, our gentle Illustrating Nature course could be just the thing. You’ll take inspiration from the quiet beauty of the seasons, blending traditional and contemporary illustration techniques. We also have some places left on our popular Wheel Throwing sessions – snap them up before they’re gone!

As well as our courses, we also have a great selection of workshops which are perfect if you’re looking to dip your toe into the creative water. A number of these sessions are free or PAYF so that they can be accessed by as many people as possible 💜 We also offer concessions on our paid-for courses and workshops, so please do take a look If cost is a barrier for you.

You can find all our courses, workshops, events and activities over on our website: https://www.everybodyarts.org.uk/

We hope you see you at Everybody Arts soon!

We’re excited to welcome Hondartza Fraga to our gallery for a three-week artist residency.

During her time with us, Hodartza will develop Holding the Middle, a project that reimagines the gallery as a working, reflective space. Bringing together drawing, sculpture, working materials and objects in an evolving display, the gallery will become a site for testing, reconfiguring and placing works in dialogue with each other.

Public engagement will form an integral part of the residency and the space will be open for visitors Wednesday – Friday, 1 – 4pm, until 12 June. The gallery will also be open:

- Saturday 30 May, 1 – 4pm
- Wednesday 10 June, 6 – 8pm (Closing event)
- Saturday 13 June, 1 – 4pm

Please do drop in to see Hodartza’s evolving work and get an insight into the artist’s process: https://www.everybodyarts.org.uk/exhibitionsandevents/residency-hondartza-fraga

**Session postponed - new date TBA**

Join us this week for our next Ceramics workshop, Throwing off the hump.

📅 Wednesday 27 May
🕕 6 - 8:30pm

So… what is throwing off the hump? It’s not shedding a bad mood (although our workshops definitely help with that). And it’s not making your pots nice and smooth - though you’ll do plenty of that too.

Throwing off the hump is a ceramics skill that will speed up your making and improve your overall technique. You’ll learn how to centre a large mass of clay on the wheel and consecutively throw multiple small pieces from the top.

This session is perfect for potters ready to build on their foundational wheel skills. To get the most out of this workshop you need to be able to throw a straight cylinder of around 12cm and have a basic understanding of throwing bowls.

And as a naturally cool working space, our studio is also the perfect escape from the heat ☀️❄️

Feeling inspired by the Chelsea Flower Show and the sunshine this weekend? ☀️🌸 Why not grow something beautiful with us through our Seeds of Hope project?

This summer, we’ll be creating a micro show garden as part of the Seeds of Hope Festival at Shibden Park, Halifax. Co-created with our community and students from Cross Lane Primary School, the garden design is inspired by our organisation’s textile heritage and will be a space for relaxation and wellbeing.

We’d love you to be part of it:

🪴 Pop into Everybody Arts to pick up compost, pots and seeds to grow at home. Bring them back to us by end of July and we’ll add them to The Everybody Garden.

🫶 Volunteer with us! From planting and growing to helping install the final garden at Shibden, there are lots of ways to get involved.

Find out more and sign up by completing the form on our Seeds of Hope blog post: https://www.everybodyarts.org.uk/news/the-everybody-garden

We wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that joined us last week for our Bloom Network taster session and Lived and Living Showcase with Healthy Minds.

Held during Mental Health Awareness Week, both projects celebrated the power of art and creativity to support health and wellbeing. It was really great to see people coming together to connect and create 💜

A huge congratulations must go to the Lived and Living artists for their thoughtful and courageous work sharing personal stories and challenging cultural attitudes towards mental health. Take a look at some of their artwork in this reel.

If you couldn’t make it to our Bloom Network taster session, there’s still time to help shape what the Bloom Network becomes. Please take a few minutes to complete our short survey – we’d love to hear from you: https://forms.gle/bZ5xPLVGVgzXR5wJ8
