Portrait if my boyfriend Doug, whom is pretty awesome in every way.
My life has really been devoted to getting a new business off the ground, and that'll be complete at the end of this week, and, spending time with Doug.
I've devoted so many days, hours, if my life to painting; its really nice to also devote spending time with a wonderful person.
I love art that changes in the light, in this case, via the flashing, glittering gold leaf.

Time moves forwards; I am so incredibly grateful to still have the opportunity to live and learn on this planet.
Everyday I am grateful for my son.
For my life.
For the most amazing friends on the planet, whom I love.
For my crazy animals.
For music.
For live music.
For the wild places; the beach, the forests.
I have never been this old before.
I will never be this young again.

My first artwork of 2026.
Something simple and comforting to ease myself back into using my brush.
I think I have been in mourning for my mum; alive and healthy, but no longer with me, and with deteriorating dementia.
Time to call on my inner spirit, which I think of, like a dragon.
This and inspired work is stamped with my tattoo-apprentice name, Kuroko; the 'invisible, black' hands in Japanese theatre.

Brent Hinds made some of my favourite music, and for me, the album Leviathan remains one of my favourite albums, a solid, cohesive, beautiful, poetic opus, its creative storytelling, skillful and unpredictable musicianship, and electrically powerful delivery, make this album an opus, of a story of the sea, a concept album with inspirations from the Herman Melville novel, Moby-Dick. Its an album I can listen to on repeat. I love it and it speaks to me in its own language of music.
You can at times, feel like you are traversing the ocean, while being immersed in its wonderful soundscapes.
Brent Hinds was an American musician best known as former lead guitarist and one of the vocalists of the heavy metal band
Pet peeve: when a famous person passes, every artist and their dog paints that person.
When someone not-so-famous passes, not so much.
So here is my nod to a wonderful artist, gone too soon ♡

Big thanks to Seamus, otherwise known as ._photography for the art inspiration. The reference photo for this painting was taken at Blackwater Arboretum in the New Forest, an absolutely magical and wild part of southern England, full of forests, villages and a whole variety of wild animals who wander freely, everywhere.
That trip also inspired me to get back to hiking in wild places, really, one of the most wondrous things I like to do.
This painting took just 3 nights to complete; I paint to music so it's been great having that time with my favourite bands, and new ones too.
More soon.

Here is an oil portrait of Sophia, a model and artist I worked with somewhere around 2008 onwards.
Recently, I had the inspiration to paint her.
This portrait was done in just over 2 nights, so a very fast portrait.
I had an idea to add a crescent moon, or some brambles in flower and fruit, but once I reached this point in the painting, it seemed complete.
It feels peaceful and warm to me.
Sophia often went by the name Xanadu Nox and there are are a beautiful array of concept, editorial and fashion portraits of her.
She is missed.
