We are delighted to announce the arrival of a significant piece of Hastings fishing heritage โ the wheelhouse from Four Brothers RX77, kindly donated to Hastings Fishermenโs Museum by the Banfield family.
The wheelhouse has an interesting history of its own, having previously served aboard Royela BF162, owned by the Pepper family. It was built in 1977 by the Medway Yacht Company of Gillingham, Kent, and represents an important part of the story of the modern fishing fleet.
Over the coming months, we will be restoring the wheelhouse and adapting it so that visitors can step inside and experience what life was like at the helm of a working fishing vessel. Once completed, it will provide a unique hands-on exhibit, allowing visitors to get a closer look at the equipment, controls, and working environment of local fishermen.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Banfield family for ensuring that this important piece of fishing history remains in Hastings and can be enjoyed by future generations.
