Located in the old prison governor's house, the museum is home to a fascinating variety of artefacts, prints and painting which illustrate the history of Haverfordwest over the past 900 years.

🚣 The River Festival is back! 🚣

The beautiful River Cleddau takes centre stage on Saturday 13 June 2026 with a day packed full of fun, discovery and a splash of adventure!

Expect Live music, canoe trips, art & activities and market stalls!

The River Cleddau has shaped Haverfordwest for centuries, connecting communities, trade, industry and recreation. Here at Haverfordwest Town Museum, we're delighted to see a festival dedicated to the river that has played such a vital role in our town's story.

🐾 A Very Important Reminder 🐾

Hello humans,

I have recently carried out a thorough visit of Haverfordwest Town Museum.

After extensive sniffing, careful wandering, and a detailed assessment of the floor quality, I am pleased to report that:

✅ Dogs are welcome
✅ Plenty of interesting smells
✅ Friendly humans on site
✅ Excellent opportunities to receive fuss and admiration

While my humans were busy learning about the history of Haverfordwest, I was conducting my own research into the museum's dog-friendliness. I can confirm it passed with four paws up. 🐾🐾🐾🐾

So if you're planning a visit, don't leave your dog at home. We deserve culture too.

🎉 A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who came along to our Quiz Night 🎉

What a night! The atmosphere was fantastic, the laughs were non-stop, and the knowledge on display ranged from “future mastermind champion” to “confidently incorrect”

There was fierce competition, brilliant teamwork, plenty of questionable answers… and of course, the now legendary potato raffle prizes Congratulations to the lucky winners who took those beauties home! 🥔

We also want to give a huge congratulations to the winner of our silent auction, and a massive thank you to everyone who placed bids, bought raffle tickets, and supported the evening.

And now for the big reveal…

Together, we raised an incredible £741 for the museum!!! ❤️

We are absolutely blown away by the support from our community. Every penny raised helps support the museum and preserve the history of Haverfordwest for future generations.

🌧️ Rainy day in Haverfordwest? Perfect weather for a little trip down memory lane… 🌧️

We’re looking back at the egg-stra special fun we had over Easter when the Easter Bunny hopped into the museum and even stopped for a chat with our curator! 🐣📚

Who knew the bunny was so interested in local history? 👀

It was wonderful seeing so many smiling faces exploring the museum, learning about our town, and enjoying the Easter excitement. Moments like that remind us just how much history can bring people together. 💛

🪙 A Penny’s Journey… 🪙

This sterling silver penny of Guy de Dampiere (1226–1305) was struck in Alost, Flanders over 700 years ago.

Coins like this travelled across medieval trade routes, passing through markets, ports, and the hands of merchants.

How did it end up in Haverfordwest?
Was it carried by a travelling merchant? A sailor arriving at our port? Or dropped in the street centuries ago?

Our first week back open for 2026 at Haverfordwest Town Museum has been incredible! We’ve loved welcoming so many visitors through the doors, chatting about local history, and seeing people explore the museum again. Thank you to everyone who has popped in to say hello — you’ve made our opening week extra special! 💙
