A beautiful day up at Whitrope, contrary to reports in corners of the internet we are very much not “abandoned!”

With our limited finances and resources we are fixing the damage to our trains caused by people forcing entry as best we can and are very pleased to say that huge progress is being made on sorting out some engine problems 👍

Our 25th anniversary issue of The Waverley is now at the printers and should soon be with members. It explores the Selkirk branch, the restoration of Riddings Viaduct and the work of photographer Walter Percy Collier, alongside a look back at the early years of the WRHA. Featuring more previously unpublished photographs. Details of joining the association can be found at https://wrha.org.uk/the-association/membership/

Issue 46 of The Waverley is now at the printers and will soon be landing with our members. A downloadable version will also be available shortly in the members’ area of our main website.
Once again, this issue is packed with previously unpublished photographs and fascinating articles, making it a must-read for anyone with an interest in the Waverley Route.
Not a member yet? There’s never been a better time to join the Association and be part of keeping this rich heritage alive. [MGS]

It is with considerable regret that, due to a reduced number of available volunteers, Whitrope Heritage Centre will need to operate on a very limited, ad hoc basis this year rather than offering its usual programme of open days, as previously advertised.

We sincerely appreciate that this may come as a disappointment, and we are especially grateful for your continued patience, support, and understanding during this time. If circumstances improve, we hope to be able to announce occasional open days at short notice.

Volunteers are often present on site at weekends, and at these times we will always do our very best to welcome visitors and, where possible, offer access to the centre and railway.

WRHA members’ free tickets included with this year’s membership can also be used next year.

A very happy Christmas from everyone at Whitrope and the WRHA.
