📣 Don't miss out on your chance to visit Hawkshead Grammar School before we close for the winter!

Our last day of opening will be October 31st, so there's not long left to explore the school and our current exhibitions. 🍂

And don't worry, we will be open again from April next year with brand new exhibitions and more treasures from the library on display! 📚

Happy National Poetry Day! ✍️

This year's theme is "wonder," an idea that is expressed through much of Wordsworth's poetry, including this poem written in 1807, which can be found painted onto the walls of Hawkshead Grammar School. 🌈

"My heart leaps up when I behold
A Rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the man;
And I wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety."

Join us on the 26th October for an evening of folklore and spooky tales from the Lake District, with none other than 'The Director' from Hawkshead's Tallow Tales. 🕯️

Tickets also include a final chance to visit our current exhibitions and historic library before we close for the winter. Light refreshments will be provided.

It's been a busy first Heritage Open Day weekend here at Hawkshead Grammar School!

Now that the summer holidays are coming to an end, we are returning to our usual opening hours, which means we will be closed on a Tuesday and Wednesday. 🍂

Are you aged 16-25 and local to Hawkshead?

📣 The Hawkshead Grammar School grants are now open for application until September 30th!

People aged 16-25 can apply for a grant to help with university, apprenticeships or vocational training for the 2026-27 academic year. Transportation grants are also available for 16-18 year olds at school or college. 🎓
