Such a beautiful morning walk today crossing over the border from England into Wales and then back again before opening up the gallery. Everywhere is looking so green and lush and the bird song so loud. Love this time of year.

We are delighted to have some fabulous paintings in from Dai David.

His paintings range from the small “Beach Book”, oil on paper, at 15x15cm to “Evening Flock” , oil on board, at 70x130cm. These and other paintings by Dai are all available to view in the gallery, and if you are unable to visit take a look at them on our website.

Dai was born in South Wales and trained at the Royal College as well as studying in Florence, Italy. His garden studio overlooks the Brecon Beacons, and his love of landscape is plain to see in his art. He also loves portraying people, especially on the beautiful beaches of Wales.

Dai is also a trained opera singer and pianist. As a professional musician (known as David Vaughan-Lewis) he gives private tuition in piano, singing and music theory and regularly holds sell-out charity concerts.

He regularly exhibits in London, Greece and Rome, and his work is in private collections in many countries.

“My aim is to reveal both the beauty and delight experienced when enjoying a light-filled scene. With my use of colour and application of paint I seek to express the very essence of an atmosphere… be it an idyllic moment of solitude or a joyous, sun-drenched beachscape.”

And remember, any original piece of art over £250 is available on 10 months interest free credit through OwnArt.

We have had some fabulous paintings arrive at the gallery over the last week or so. Here are just a few of them showing the work from nikithomasartist , paulbaileyart and larasmithart. Oils on canvas and acrylic on board depicting Welsh landscape and local scenes of the town.

If you can pop into the gallery you will see the stunning work from these talented artists as well as many other artists and craftspeople from across the British Isles. But if you can’t make it then we have the website you can browse at your leisure.

And a little reminder that you can purchase any original piece, from paintings to glass and jewellery, where the value is more the £250, through the Own Art scheme. This is a 10 months Interest free loan. Easy to apply for, plus you can take your purchase home on the same day.

Things are tough at the moment but an original piece of art will bring joy and pleasure everyday, and perhaps brighten these rather dark days!

Colin Hawkins creates several collections of glass. We have recently visited his studio and selected these stunning pieces from him.
The bottles and large bowl are from the Feather range. Statement pieces for the glass lover 😌. And then there are the Landscape vases.

Although colourways can be repeated the effects and patterns that develop as each piece is blown and formed will always be different, making them all one offs.

May 2026 bring a brighter and more peaceful outlook for all.

Thank you to all our wonderful makers and artists who continue to work with us here at Bluestone Gallery. Can’t believe this will be our 26th year! We have seen new talent rise up, older favourites retire or move into a different field and still it continues to bring us such pleasure working with you all.

Thank you to everyone who has visited us over the past year, supported us as an independent gallery and in the process supported all these talented makers and artists. Thank you to all our followers on social media, and to those who are to far away to visit but who support us via our website.

Best wishes to you all ☺️🥰

Here is a glimpse of some of the work we currently have in the gallery. We can post most things out to you and we can also offer 10 months interest free credit through .art for any original work over £100. This can be for one item or a collection of items.

We support well over 100 artists within their different fields and from across the British Isles. They all have such a passion for what they create and it is our pleasure to support them by showcasing and selling their work. A huge part of the enjoyment of having the Bluestone Gallery over the last 25 years is the relationship we build with these artists.

Beautiful etched silver and semi precious beads make up Anne Farag’s work. Anne’s father was Egyptian and her mother Swedish and these influences truly show in her work.

Much of the inspiration that generates her current work comes from a rich variety of sources. She is particularly interested in cultures which tend to use a lot of pattern and decoration, ancient or modern. As a result of this mix, she endeavours to introduce all these influences into her current work, which includes myriads of repeating patterns etched into silver.

These images show just a few of the pieces that we currently have in the gallery. If you can’t make it in then take a look at our website.

We offer an Interest Free Loan over 10 months with OWN ART on any original piece of art over £100, including jewellery. Give us a call if you would like more information on that.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is horrendous and it sounds like it’s a day to stay at home if you can! Our website is full of fabulous individual work from extremely talented makers and artists across the UK. So if you can’t get out, pop the kettle on and take a look.

And here is some fabulous new glass in from two of our Welsh glass makers. Natalie Thomas’s, hand painted and fused glass panels and leaded stained and hand painted glass wall hangings by SueThorne. Suethorneglass

Natalie creates technically challenging and stunningly beautiful works of art in glass in her Welsh studio. Her depth of experience is evident in the detail and quality of the work she makes, whether it is capturing a landscape in glass, or freezing an ocean wave. She works with great attention to detail, patience and concentration, which combined with her love of pattern colour and light makes her work very special.

Sue lives and works out of her studio in the Brecon Beacons. She uses many different glass techniques to achieve the effect she desires taking her inspiration from the mountain environment and the natural world in which she walks. She experiments with ways to ‘draw and paint’ in glass. Sue paints on glass using traditional stained glass methods. She also uses this method in a more contemporary way fusing glass to bring a range of colour into her work. It is by combining different ways of working with glass that the unexpected can happen, providing endless stimulation and excitement.
