Museum of Cider

Museum of Cider Discover the history of cidermaking - like the drink itself, there's a lot more to it than you think.

The Museum is housed in an original cidermaking factory and visitors can walk through unique champagne-cider cellars and view a cooper’s workshop and vat house . Admire 19th century watercolours and a rare collection of English Lead Crystal cider glasses dating from 1765 onwards. Listen to oral histories and view old photographs and advertising memorabilia.

Today, Hereford BID chaired the Hereford Events Meeting at the The Museum of Cider.

Representatives from The Courtyard, Hereford Ghost Walks, Herefordshire Council, Hereford Museum and Galleries, Hereford City Council, Tourist Information Centre, Eat Sleep Live Herefordshire, Maylord Orchards, Old Market, The Mayors Guides, Museum of Cider, and Herefordshire Markets all came together to discuss plans and opportunities to help attract visitors into the city across the summer months.

It was a very productive meeting, with lots of collaboration, ideas and exciting discussions focused on making this summer a great one for Hereford city centre.

πŸ”Ž Found in the cellars!

The Woodpecker Club, opened in 1970s, served as a social club for employees of Bulmer's Cider, until it closed permanently in the 2000s. The remaining subterranean property extends from the Museum's champagne cider cellars which are open to the visitors. This sign was uncovered in the bar area where it had been hung more than 20 years ago, a relic of Hereford's social history. The smoking ban in pubs and bars came into effect in 2007 in England, up until this point smoking was permitted, well, so long as you weren't dancing! πŸ•Ί
