🎨📜 A printastic night at Leominster Museum! 🎨📜
We had a fabulous evening the other week with local artist Des at first of our ROR Printmaking Workshops. Everyone was able to carve stamps inspired by images of Viking coins and handling replicas of the Hoard to create unique and personal prints.
💬Comment below what is object you would try to carve for your print!

✨ If you are interested in participating, we have two more!

We were saddened to hear of the death of David Hockney, one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, who has died aged 88.

In our collection, Sunbathers (1966) captures a moment from Hockney’s early years in Los Angeles, where he developed the luminous colour palate and poolside imagery that would shape some of his most iconic work. Hockney’s time in California was also a space of personal freedom, where his work openly explored relationships and q***r identity at a time when such visibility was rare. These joyful sunlit scenes of water and leisurely bodies have become some of q***r art history’s most important images.

As we mark Pride Month, we remember this aspect of his legacy alongside the joy of his paintings.

✨ Exciting news for Herefordshire history lovers! ✨
The incredible Herefordshire Hoard is heading to national TV! 🏺📺 Catch it on BBC One’s Bargain Hunt this Friday 12 June at 12:15pm, where presenter Roo Irvine visits Herefordshire Council’s History Store to uncover the stories behind this fascinating Viking-era treasure. ⚔️💰

Viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at the Hoard’s stunning coins and jewellery, guided by our Archaeology Curator Dr Katie Miller, who shares the history and significance of this remarkable find.
Plus, the episode features local spots you might recognise — including the Secondhand Antiques Centre in Leominster and the auction showdown at Tong’s Auction House in Wrexham! 🛍️🔨

Cllr Elissa Swinglehurst, Herefordshire Councils’ Cabinet Member for Environment and Culture said: “Herefordshire is rich with history, including our time as a military and royal powerhouse during the Anglo-Saxon and Norman eras, and as the Hoard shows, with trading and heritage dating right back to the time of Vikings.
“Hundreds of thousands of local people and visitors enjoy our heritage tourism offer every year, and it’s great to see part of our history brought onto national TV screens once more. Heritage forms a major part of our £800milllion+ visitor economy, and as a council we are keen to do everything we can to support our brilliant tourism businesses to continue to thrive.”

Herefordshire’s rich past takes centre stage once again — don’t miss this chance to see our heritage shine on national television 🌍
