Really nice to be invited back to my old university to deliver a natural dyeing workshop as part of the colour4CRAFTS 'The Future of Biocolourants' seminar at the University of Leeds. Very strange to walk back into my old department and see a timeline featuring the company I set up in 2006 from my PhD!

Toy capsule machines are typically found in soft play centres and amusement parks filled with cheap toys. Through this installation, I am aiming to depose this expectation, by filling one of these machines with hand printed art work. It is hoped that this will create a playful and accessible way for the public to interact with art.

This machine is going to be in the Market Hall at Holmfirth Artweek later this year (in the market Hall) offering handmade art at an affordable price; whilst integrating an element of surprise.

The work is designed to democratise art works for all, by making them accessible and affordable. In this collection of prints, three images are randomly available through the machine (a dog, cat and mouse image) at only £1 each.

The weather and the bluebells are so pretty this evening that I decided to pop outside with my newly reupholstered stool. It’s covered with fabric naturally dyed using tannin, including some from the tree in the background of the picture - all I need now is a good book 🙂
