Delighted to tell everyone that George Peterkin a renowned naturalist and woodland specialist has donated his Lincolnshire archive to the Sir Joseph Banks Natural Science Museum. George identified and determined most of Lincolnshire’s ancient woodlands and hedgerows in the 1970’s. The collection is currently being accessioned and catalogued.

We had a wonderful day yesterday making bunting at our cyanotype bunting workshop. It was a beautiful day in our garden and fortunately not too windy.

A newly discovered Banks letter describing the 1773 Polar Expedition, and Richard Hill a lost Horncastle worthy. The exhibition runs for the whole of October which is Black History Month.

Great new window display. Horncastle: Artists Rachael Clark-Harris, assisted by Nils Wilkinson, led creative explorations that reflect the town’s unique character by creating a community mosaic. The mosaic will be displayed at the Joseph Banks Centre until it is officially launched later in September.

Had a VIP visit to the centre today, Bull Hotel and Tim didn’t disappoint with amazing bubble & squeak lunch.
Draining of the East and West Fens, Horncastle Canal, all agreed by Sir Joseph Banks at the towns assembly room at the Bull Hotel.
