Latest to The Gallery
We welcome Laura McNicholas, Nettleton Pottery.
She is a full time ceramic artist and a selection of her pieces are now available at The Gallery. How exciting!
She was introduced to beach combing and rock pooling as a child. Now, in her garden studio, she creates the porcelain forms and uses specific glazes to create beautiful colours with effect and includes the element of fabric impression on the bowl in her design - specifically the impressions of fine crochet and lace work made a long time ago by the great women skilled in textile art in Laura's family.
Laura also combines her work with driftwood to create sculptural wall decorations.

We're approaching the last week to view a wonderful selection of original paintings by Margaret Jarvis this April ending 30th in the gallery. She uses lighting to great effect to bring the landscape to life in detail. A number of her paintings are framed while others are offered canvas alone.

New to The Gallery Hornsea ?
Pam Williams brought in her latest paintings. Larry Malkin also. Find a lovely selection in our shop artist space run by our artist volunteer members.

Make sure not to miss the Hornsea Ceramics Festival 2026 in St Nicholas Parish Hall this weekend. 25th-26th April 10am - 4:30pm

Celebrate the makers of this fine artisan craft. Some of our own pictured in this post.

🖌🎨Theatre Gallery: Carolyn Taylor and Sharon Lomax

Exhibiting in the café at ERT from the 25th April - 2nd May

🎨FROM HORNSEA TO NEWBALD WITH BEVERLEY IN BETWEEN

A collaboration of work between two artists depicting a visual journey and local flavour from each of their respective homes to Beverley, living either side of this East Yorkshire town.

Sharon Lomax is a local artist living in Hornsea where interests and the heritage of this town feature in her art being depicted as its history, industry and activities.

Carolyn Taylor lives in North Newbald, south of Beverley and on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, where she has walked many miles enabling her to draw from them in atmospheric landscapes.

Both artists have a plethora of styles in their collections and narrowing down for the purpose of this exhibition has been a concentrated exercise.

🎨🖌Join Carolyn & Sharon for a preview event, in the East Riding Theatre Café Bar, on Saturday 25th April 12:00pm – 14:00pm for an opportunity to talk to the artist whilst enjoying the exhibition.

We've had such a lovely Easter break and fine weather in Hornsea. A moment to relax and muse. The sunshine, when it reaches past the buildings on Market Place, shines through the shop window onto the feature wall.
We have Margaret Jarvis( Margaret Jarvis - Artist ) displaying a range of her work this April, a good opportunity to purchase her paintings, usually only available in Doncaster, her favourite subject Cornwall coast and the Lakes.

Penny De Corte popped by last week and brought with her a Grande Hare and restocked.

Keep an eye out for Coastal Connections Hornsea Dove and seascape range of fused glass available in the gallery.

Alongside original art, ceramics and glass, we also have a range of cards by our artists, and various prints.

An exciting month to see a larger selection of work in exhibition by artist Margaret Jarvis this month of April.
She'd travelled two hours from Lincolnshire. Such a pleasure to have met with her yesterday in The Gallery and we talked about her fondness for the places she paints, Cornwall and The Lake District.

'Having spent my lifetime living in the countryside, this has inspired me to paint landscapes and seascapes... I try to capture the beauty of these places... There is something special about each season of the year' M. Jarvis

Margaret Jarvis - Artist

A kindly invitation to see her work, available through April 2026 only, not to be missed.
