Meet the team 👋

Introducing Poppy — having joined us this year, she has already become an integral part of the team and feels as though she’s been here from the very beginning.

With a background in scenic painting across both the film and events industries, Poppy brings a truly creative perspective to the workshop. Her exceptional eye for detail not only enhances her framing work, but is also behind many of our favourite images on social media.

Inspired by nature, Poppy is also an avid forager, often creating her own herbal remedies — something the whole team benefits from.

Whether working behind the scenes or contributing creatively, Poppy brings care, artistry, and a fresh energy to everything she does.

When asked what she enjoys most about her role:
“Seeing a customer collect their finished piece and the smile it brings.”

Can you guess how many steps go into getting a work from Print to Framed?

Our team are all highly skilled at their craft and it’s taken them years to make this look easy. But, every single artwork that walks through our doors is unique and the experience they have is what makes us stand out from the crowd.

The same level of craftsmanship goes into every piece big or small like this one. We know this little piece will be part of a home for many years to come thanks to our trained hands.

FYI - this little silhouette had 15 steps to completion (the frame was sourced in an antique fair and cleaned up as well!)

Submissions now Open - Be Part of Leverton Art Week 2026

We’re excited to invite you to submit your Art for Leverton Art Week 2026, running from 25th June – 2nd July.

This curated exhibition is an opportunity to showcase your work in a professional gallery setting, connect with new audiences, and be part of a celebration of local creativity.

We are currently selecting artwork to feature in this year’s exhibition and would love to consider your work.

A truly special piece of family and racing history has just crossed the finish line in our workshop 🏇✨

Beautifully completed by Andy, this bespoke box frame features double traditional mounts, carefully encasing historic racing silks and their remarkable story. Now protected behind Art Glass, it’s preserved for generations to come.

These silks were worn by James Alexander Stewart Balmain aboard his horse Queen Mab, as the winning jockey in the Subalterns Challenge Cup in 1896, 1897, and 1898. Serving with the XV Hussars, he first claimed victory at Baldoyle in Ireland, before going on to win the same race at the Aldershot Steeplechase Course for the next two years—securing the Major Hood Gregory Trophy outright after three consecutive wins.

His distinguished career continued across India and Australia, before retiring in 1909. He later returned to service during WWI in France, where he was mentioned in dispatches and awarded the Legion d’Honneur.

An honour to help preserve such an incredible legacy. 🖼️

Some beautiful equine artists on show do pop along and take a look.

This week Jonny has been working on re-framing this beautiful set of framed vintage ornithological prints, antique bird and tropical fish. (Check out our before and after in our stories)

These prints are likely reproductions of hand-colored etchings from Mark Catesby’s Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands, published in the 18th century.

They arrived at the workshop needing a bit of tlc and we are delighted to have given them a long awaited lease of life enhanced with tradional mount board colour choice and frame.

Introducing Matt — joining us 4 years ago Matt has been a valued member of the team here at Leverton Framers

With a strong foundation in craftsmanship and a keen attention to detail, Matt is our go to man for repairs to period frames and slightly stranger pieces that require a carpentry approach. His considered approach ensures that each bespoke frame is created to the highest standard.

Whether working with artwork, photography, or meaningful personal items, Matt understands the importance behind every piece — taking pride in delivering a finish that is both refined and lasting.

When asked what he enjoys most about the craft:
“Seeing how the right frame can completely elevate a piece and bring everything together.”

Something you might not know about Matt — If something is not working or broken you can usually hear us all say "Matt can Fix It!" and he is also an avid mountain bike enthuastoast.

WE ARE HIRING!

Leverton Framers is seeking a part-time, versatile individual to join their team.

The role involves a variety of tasks, including daily administrative duties, email correspondence, appointment scheduling, material ordering, client interactions, estimate preparation, work order creation, overseeing framing projects, workshop coordination, invoicing, payment processing, and assistance with the potential to learn mounting and framing.

Ideal candidates will possess strong interpersonal skills, work effectively within a team, demonstrate a friendly and professional demeanor, and possess excellent communication abilities. Computer literacy, social skills, multitasking capabilities, and exceptional organisational skills are also essential. Experience in framing is considered an advantage.

The position requires availability on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays
from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM,
A minimum of one Saturday per month from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The role is scheduled to commence in January 2025.
