Our canvases use a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques such as our expanding / stretcher joints which are simple to adjust using a standard 5mm hex key. We have found that this is the best, easiest and quickest way to accurately adjust the tension of the canvas without using fiddly, inconsistent and un-secure wooden wedges. h a meticulous eye for detail – ‘that’ll do’ just doesn’t cut it in our workshop. All canvases are throughly checked for straightness, tension and any imperfections in the materials and workmanship before being signed off as finished and ready to pass on to the artists. We have purposefully chosen not to carry any stock canvas sizes as every artist has different requirements. We specialise in offering a bespoke service with each canvas made to order and are happy to advise on common sizes. We like to build a relationship with the artist – taking away the hassle of finding a consistent and reliable canvas supplier. All of our timber is European Spruce and our larger Gallery Professional & Gallery Slim mouldings are made up using laminated strips before being planed into the final profiles. This gives our moldings a much higher torsional strength and eliminates any twisting or bending. This being said, all of our cut sections are still checked for any imperfections before being made into the frames so you can be confident that our canvases will stay straight and true and will carry your artwork perfectly. We carry a stock of commonly used artist’s grade canvas weights which come ready primed with a universal primer for painting with acrylics or oils.
