Insch Connection Museum

Insch Connection Museum Our museum is located in the Insch Railway Station, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. We're open every Wednesday and Sunday between 2 and 4pm from April to October.

Entrance free, donations welcome. We are a registered charity (SC028432). Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of Insch and district. Photographs, artefacts and stories demonstrate how life was lived in this area since the middle ages. The railway connection includes a working scale model of the station which shows Insch railway station in the days when the railway station was of strategic

importance to Insch and the farming communities. In 2025 we have managed to aquire the former ladies waiting room in the Train Station and doubled our exhibition space! The beautiful new space has been used as a kilt makers' atelier and a police office, and it lay empty for more than five years. Eventually this year, we have managed to gain the licence to use the room as an extension to the existing museum. Facing the platform it boasts the beautiful original fireplace, a wee kitchenette, a much needed additional store room - and a beautiful large exhibition- and meeting space. As we are so excited about calling the entire train station ours (except the existing waiting room for train passengers of course), we decided to make our past record-braking exhibition 'The Caste of Dunnydure' permanent (details below), and put most of our efforts into the new room. That said, we have upgraded our kids corner and storage for our exhibition folders already, all supplied by a wonderful local joiner. We will receive the keys to the new room in the middle of April and visitors are invited to watch the progress. Our beautiful Victorian wedding dress will feature in the new room, together with the original bell from the ancient St Drostan's Church and numerous artefacts we've never been able to display before. All this is only possible because of generous donations from the amazing people of Insch, our wonderful visitors from all over the world, and the Co-op grant we had received last year. Thank you all so much! Archive material about Insch and the surrounding areas is available for research; material in store is readily accessible on request. Our computer database which uses MODES software is growing all the time, and can be searched in the museum free of charge. The museum accessible to wheelchair users. Insch Station is a working station with a
regular service to Aberdeen and Inverness.

In 1932, Premnay W.R.I. won this beautiful trophy bowl at the County Bulb Show.

Melanie Wilson from Louis Little Haven discovered this beautiful treasure amongst other fantastic Insch related artefacts, and kindly donated it to us - how generous and thoughtful is this?

Acts of kindness like this, with local businesses supporting local charities, are part of what makes Insch so special. Thank you 😊

A lovely postcard from our Premnay collection. The Square, or better known locally as The Point. Date unknown but we guess this photo was taken around 1900. The hotel looked beautiful with its white window frames.

Here we have a lovely photo of Insch signal box approximately 110 years ago. How small it was. The white barriers had to be moved by hand, every time a train approached.

We're open again today (Sunday) between 2 and 4pm. Entrance free and everyone is very welcome 😊
