Happy Retirement to a wonderful teacher Sheila May .

After many wonderful years teaching face-to-face, first as Birmingham School of Sewing and later as Stitch Clever, I am now retiring and will be holding a major clearance sale. A wide range of items will be available, including sewing machines, embroidery machines, overlockers, sewing equipment, and an extensive selection of fabrics and haberdashery. Fabrics will be sold by the metre, by the roll, and in bulk bundles, alongside a large collection of lingerie and bra-making fittings. Tables and chairs will also be available. Everything must go, with prices set well below normal retail value—so don’t miss this chance to come along and grab yourself a real bargain!
The sale is taking place on Saturday April 18th

The bluebell woods woolpainting course was my way of bringing the spring spirit to my students. They made lovely pieces to show the beauty of the season, making a forestry atmosphere blooming with bluebells. The students feeling the joy of spring enjoyed the course, they loved experimenting with the wide range of colourful wool fibres. Learning new artistic techniques, they were able to make these wonderful artworks that they later showed to their family and friends.

What a fantastic review I have received from my students! I'm so happy and proud of what they achieved! My husband hasn't stopped talking about how much he enjoyed it.

I have done some art before but my husband hasn't done anything artistic since school. I had never done wool art before so I thought we'd give this a try.

Raya is a warm, inviting and professional instructor. The course was absolutely fascinating and creating a landscape was a truly calming,relaxing and rewarding experience. My husband hasn't stopped talking about how much he enjoyed it and we are both very proud of his accomplishment.

Raya supplies everything; wool, scissors, picture frames etc. And the 6 hour lesson goes by very quickly but we still managed to go home with our finished work. Highly recommended!!

A new chapter could be on the horizon for Kidderminster’s Museum of Carpet 🧵✨

We know how much this unique museum means to the town — and how many people have voiced their support since news of its closure.

As part of our 2026–2029 budget proposals, the Cabinet is recommending targeted transformation funding of £25,000 a year for two years to help the Museum of Carpet develop a more sustainable long‑term future.

This one‑off funding would help the museum explore a refreshed business model.

Museum trustees and volunteers have already shown incredible commitment by reopening during February half term - and this proposed funding aims to build on that determination to secure a brighter future.

📅 The recommendation will be considered by Cabinet on Wednesday, 11 February at 5.30pm as part of the Medium‑Term Financial Strategy.
