A lovely (and breezy!) first day at Avoncroft Museum On the Home Front event today. We’ve got a beautiful spot by the amazing windmill, it’s quite a sight! Tea, cake and cricket warmed us up until the sun came out. More tomorrow, come and say hello!🏕️ 🕰️

2024 Severn Valley Railway 1940’s - Family Camp/ Holiday at Home. This event saw our first two weekender of our Family Camp/Holiday at Home display. We had turbulent weather with some storms, spending a lot of time sheltering from the rain, cuddling children and dogs to stay warm. Though some lovely sun to end the weekends on a high, and of course plenty of trains to watch pass by to keep our spirits up.

2023 Severn Valley Railway 1940s - Back in 2023, after our usual Womens Timber Corps camp on the first weekend, for the second weekend we tried out our new display of portraying a family camp. With a nod to the Holidays at Home campaign during the war, we created a family friendly and inclusive set up to accommodate our groups expanding families. We had great fun playing cricket, reading books in the sun with plenty of tea and biscuits.

We’ve just come back from a wonderful weekend at Avoncroft Museum’s Homefront event. It’s always a lovely, relaxing and friendly event with displays well suited to their surroundings and has the advantage of National Telephone Kiosk Collection being in an annex. This was only our fourth event this year, but well worth the chilly mornings! We weren’t able to get our Women’s Timber Corps display organised in time for the event, but we made up for it with both Graham and Harri portraying Worcestershire Constabulary officers and young Sam a lost child. We are now looking forward to getting on with some out-of-season tasks to get us ready for next year.

We had the pleasure of displaying at the Avoncroft Museum for their On the Homefront event last weekend and the event was fantastic from start to finish! We had alot of fun!

A relaxed and friendly atmosphere with a great standard of displays all in a beautiful and charming venue. We’ve had some wonderful comments about our camp and we are so pleased people enjoy what we do as well as spreading the word and history of the Women’s Timber Corps, and now the Canadian Forestry Corps!!

Avoncroft was our last event for the year so we will put the saws to bed until next season. Certainly a lovely way to end the 2021 calendar ☺️🌲
