Community Update:

We would like to thank everyone in the community for the very encouraging response to our recent public meeting about the future of the Auld Kirk.

The meeting was very well attended, showing strong local interest and support for saving the church for the community. We were delighted to welcome new members who have since come forward to become part of the Kilbirnie Auld Kirk Future Group. We also received many creative and practical ideas for fundraising, which we will implement once we have the bank account in place.

What’s happening now:

We are currently in the process of setting up a bank account for the group, which is essential for fundraising to cover the annual running costs which are substantial due to the cost of insurance and maintenance of such a historic building.

We now have an architect on board who is carrying out a feasibility study to explore the possible future use of the building and the work required to make it sustainable.

We are extremely grateful to Anne and Jim Pierce, who have kindly agreed to purchase the church to secure it for the community and enable this project to move forward.

This is an important and exciting stage for the project. We will continue to keep the community updated as progress is made, and we welcome anyone who would like to get involved.

Date of next public meeting will take place Wednesday 11th February at 7.30pm, location will be confirmed nearer the time, of which everyone will be warmly welcome.

Thank you once again for your support.
