How pleasant to go to a friend on a visit! is open now across Space 1 and Space 2.

How pleasant to go to a friend on a visit! brings together work from over 40 artists connected to Humber Street Gallery and its wider community.

Spanning painting, sculpture, installation, and moving image, the exhibition presents work submitted through the Fruit Factory Guild membership scheme. Artists were invited to contribute a single work, with each contribution included, resulting in an expansive and diverse snapshot of current practice.

Together, the exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to encounter a wide range of contemporary practices – moving through a varied landscape of works, where ideas of transformation, presence, and observation emerge across different forms and materials.

Join us at the Exhibition and Building Re-Launch event on Thursday 28 May, 6-9pm. No booking required and open to everyone.

Join us for the latest in our Cultural Conversations series as we explore The Art of Gathering and ask a simple question with a surprisingly complicated answer: why do we come together?

From large scale festivals to intimate performances, reading groups and shared experiences, this conversation will explore the social and artistic power of gatherings and what happens when people make space for connection. Hosted by Humber Street Gallery’s CEO & Artistic Director, Dave McLeavy, the evening brings together Paul Smith, Artistic Director at Middle Child Theatre Company, Phil Hargreaves, Festival Director at Freedom Festival and Ellie Crosby, founder of the Silent Book Club. Expect thoughtful conversation, different perspectives and plenty of opportunities to stay curious, meet new people and join in.

Wednesday 27 May, 6-8:30pm
Free, booking required: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/humber-street-gallery-gf-smith-present-cultural-conversations-tickets-1348280837279?aff=oddtdtcreator&_gl=1*pdu2gn*_up*MQ..*_ga*ODUyMTc3MDI4LjE3NzkyNzA1NzM.*_ga_TQVES5V6SH*czE3NzkyNzA1NzIkbzEkZzAkdDE3NzkyNzA1NzIkajYwJGwwJGgw
