This weekend will be our 1st Military Vehicle Show. We hope this will become an annual event and will continue at our new location.
For the first time, and annually going forward at our Military Vehicle Show, we will be awarding the best vehicle on show the John Colquhoun Memorial Shield.
The John Colquhoun Memorial Shield will be presented to the winner by Susan Colquhoun. John Colquhoun was one of the founding members of our Military Vehicle Restoration Group, whose first restoration was the Saracen, currently on display at the museum.
John was a REME Veteran and certainly knew his way around engines. When John sadly passed away late last year, there was a collection at his funeral. The money was split between 2 charities that meant a lot to John, Military Museum Scotland being one of them. We felt it important that his memory lives on at the museum so we decided, rather than his donation going into the museum's general fund, we would set up the John Colquhoun Memorial Shield to be awarded every year for the best military vehicle on show. John is very missed by all who knew him. I know he would have loved the idea of the money being used in this way.
The Memorial Shield will remain in Military Museum Scotland and the winners name will be engraved on it. The winner will also be awarded an individual trophy.
The award will be made on Sunday 7th.This weekend will be our 1st Military Vehicle Show. We hope this will become an annual event and will continue at our new location.

It's Not long now to our first Military Vehicle show. Sat 6th and Sun 7th June from 10.00 -16.00. Last entry at 14.30 and normal museum entry fees apply. It is something new for Military Museum Scotland, trying this with no previous experience of organising an event like this. We are not sure how many visiting vehicles will be on show, time will tell. Refreshments will be available in our NAAFI and the full museum inside and out will be open, it is definitely worth a visit. The Kettle will be on. There will be a prize for the best vehicle on display, more details on this will follow.

The 21st May 2026 will be etched in Military Museum Scotland history as we became a wedding venue For the first time. I never ever thought that would happen. But it has and what a fantastic day was had by all. It was a bit of a fast ball, all done and dusted in a matter of months. The Military Museum Scotland rallied to make this a special day for the newly weds.
Iain & Caroline have been part of Military Museum Scotland's family of volunteers for over 5 years now, and decided it was time to tie the knot, and I was honoured and privileged to hold the ceremony, meal and after drinkys at Military Museum Scotland. Another first for us and hopefully not the last. A huge thanks to everyone involved in making it a special day. Amy Webster, Dereick Rushton and Terry Boydon and not least our volunteers who made the whole day special. I wont share all the photos, but here is a few of what is possible at Military Museum Scotland.
Thank you to the Bride and Groom for giving us the honour to host their special day. See less

It never ceases to amaze me when people walk into the museum, carrying a box/bag, an envelope or indeed a car load of items. It all helps to add to our ever increasing collections, thereby promoting education and reminiscence.
If you have any items that is military related, items of kit, prints/photos, letters ephemera, medals, badges, weapons etc. Military Museum Scotland would gladly become custodians of your items. Sadly all to often, there is no one to hand thes items down to. They can live on in Military Museum Scotland, so that we can tell their story to everyone.
The following pics are just some of the items recently donated to us.

Its a regular thing that I get phone calls or emails asking if dogs are allowed at the museum? Well, most of my life a dog has been part of my life and family and that love of our 4 legged friends has been carried on in MIlitary Museum Scotland. Dogs are always welcome. They must be kept under control at all times. Kept on a lead at all times and it goes without saying, please clean up after you. There is always a fresh cold drink at Luna's Watering Hole

What an amazing day today at Military Museum Scotland, the weather was kind to us and everyone had a great time. It was also great to see some new visitors bring their own RC Tanks. An added bonus we received quite a few cash donations to help our continued fundraising to help us move to our new location. (Still unknown for now). It will happen though.
