Following track repairs during the week - thanks to all concerned - we now expect to be operating our normal service this weekend. Diesel (MDHB45) on Saturday and Steam (no.6) on Sunday.

There is no need to book in advance, just turn up, pay and ride. The site (LS10 2JQ) is open from 1000 each day and you can find further details here: https://middletonrailway.org.uk/our-timetable/

If you visit on Sunday you can join a free guided walk around Middleton Woods organised by Friends of Middleton Park Further details below...

Free Guided Walk in Middleton Park - Beeston Wood Walk
Meet at 1:30pm at the Visitor Centre, Middleton Park
Free Event - no Booking necessary

With the recent hot and humid weather it's the ideal time for a walk in the shade of Beeston Woods where we can see reminders of all the phases of the park's history including a medieval boundry ditch, the route of the best tram ride in Leeds and a lost ice house.

Meet at 1:30pm this Sunday at the Visitor Centre in Middleton Park, for a walk of approx one and a half hours.

This walk includes woodland and unsurfaced paths so please wear sensible footwear. With the recent dry weather the paths shouldn't be muddy. If there are pushchairs or mobility scooters we should be able to adapt the walking route to suit.

Sorry no trains today 🚂

Safety is our number one priority and unfortunately due to the recent hi temperatures it has caused a piece of rail to buckle which means we need to do some track maintenance to make this safe again for both customers and train crew.

The Cafe/Shop and Museum will still be open from 10:00 till 15:30 if you still wish to come and have a look around and enjoy light refreshments.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Whilst the current spell of hot weather may be great for some, the extreme temperatures we are currently experiencing means that we are sadly unable to operate our advertised school holiday service tomorrow - Wednesday 27th May. We apologise for any disappointment caused by this but the safety of our visitors and volunteers is paramount .

We hope to open the shop and cafe as normal, but no passenger trains will be operating.

We will post here in the next few days whether we expect to run on this coming Saturday or Sunday.

Enjoy the weather - but please stay safe.

Hot, hot, hot! Looks like the sunny forecast for the long Bank Holiday weekend is going to happen...

If you want to escape the inevitable traffic queues to the Coast why not visit us instead? We can offer shade in the Display Hall (where you can learn about our history) or the cafe (where light refreshments and affordable coffee in a good cause are available).

If you prefer the outdoors then let the train take the strain (diesel on Saturday, steam on Sunday and Monday) to Middleton Park Halt. You can then enjoy the shade of the woods just three miles from the centre of Leeds! It's a short walk to the lake and cafe and on Sunday (only) the Friends of Middleton Park have organised a free and for fun Dog show - full details here: https://www.fomp.co.uk/html/events.htm On other days the Park and Woods offer many opportunities to explore and unwind.

You don't have to book in advance, but up to midnight the day before you can at https://middletonrailway.org.uk/our-timetable/ If you are more of a last minute person then just arrive at our Moor Road site (LS10 2JQ) on Saturday, Sunday or Monday from 10am to 3pm, pay and ride. We are wheelchair, pushchair and dog friendly! You can also join the train at Middleton Park Halt if you wish.

And, for those who like to know these things, the rostered locomotives are diesel MDHB45 (Saturday) and steam no.6 (Sunday and Monday)

We look forward to seeing you and sharing in your memory making!
