Dunella Scarf, a fine 1ply lace scarf designed by Kathleen Anderson in our 1ply Shetland Supreme Lace ❤ A lovely introduction to the skills of Shetland Lace knitting.

Last month, we were tagged in a post about a very fun knitting project! Emily used our 2ply Jumper Weight to knit a vest to wear on Mastermind, inspired by her Specialist Subject: Transport for London moquette fabric!

She took the London Overground fabric and reimagined its design as a colourwork motif, creating a rather special tank top. Emily used shades 66, 1285, 4, 34 and FC24.

As a very trainless place, we’re delighted to see our Shetland yarn used in a garment celebrating such an iconic part of textile and transport design. Well done to Emily on her brilliant vest and her appearance on Mastermind!

The Haakon Hat, designed by Sandra using our 5ply Shetland in Dark Navy, White and Scarlet.

It combines Shetland and Scandinavian knitting styles and we named it after King Haakon Street, here in Lerwick, another sign of our connection with our Norwegian Neighbours!

Shetland Wool Week may be coming to an end this weekend, but we have something exciting to announce for our crofters and farmers!

To celebrate their 125th anniversary, Vispring have offered a handmade Shetland mattress to one of our wool suppliers. After all, without their wool, we wouldn’t be here!

All of our regular wool suppliers will be automatically entered into the raffle. The winner will be drawn at the end of October, meaning their handmade mattress will be delivered in time for Christmas!

It is our way of saying thank you to the people who make everything we do possible, and we are very grateful to Vispring for helping us celebrate our wool producers in such a special way.

So, if you have a family member or friend who supplies wool to J&S, let them know they are in the running! We’ll have more information in the next few weeks.
