🌟 Artist Spotlight Claire Pringle

I use ceramic techniques to capture and preserve things of beauty and importance.

My current body of work focuses on capturing and preserving two diverse areas; domestic handicraft skills, such as sewing, crochet and knitting that have been passed down the generations and locally found wild plants.

Preserving the skills of my female ancestors is important to me. Detailed crocheted pieces created by my great grandmother can often be seen within my work. The incredible skills needed to create such intricate work are so often overlooked and seen only as 'women's work'. By preserving them in porcelain I hope to raise the status of these overlooked skills..

BLOOM 6th-14th June
Claire Pringle, Cathy Smale and Lucy Sugden
Bloom celebrates the relationship between art and nature, with work created in garden studios and brought to the gallery this June.

Join Claire, Cathy & Lucy for a preview evening on June 5th between 6-8pm

Find all 3 artists in the gallery 7th June  between 11am-3pm to talk about what inspires their work and the techniques behind their processes

Claire Pringle
Claire uses ceramic techniques to capture and preserve things of beauty and importance, specifically locally found wild plants and flowers from her garden as well as domestic handicraft skills passed down through the generations.

Cathy Smale
Cathy’s paintings combine observation with imagination, with scenes inspired by local landscapes and woodland walks. Birds populate the canvas and bring life and character to the images.

Lucy Sugden
Lucy’s work is rooted in a deep respect for the natural world, specifically the delicate ecosystems found within the local landscape and her own garden. For Lucy, the garden is more than a setting, it is a vital habitat and a sanctuary for observation.

Bloom
Open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm
Saturdays 10am-4pm
Sundays 11am-3pm

The Wynd Gallery presents 'BLOOM'

Claire Pringle, Cathy Smale and Lucy Sugden

6th-14th June

Bloom celebrates the relationship between art and nature, with work created in garden studios and brought to the gallery this June.

Delicate fossil like impressions of wild plants on porcelain meet characterful oil paintings of plants and birds, with the study of moths and flowers captured in textile form.

Inspired by time spent in the peace and quiet of the natural world, the artists share the work that reflects the same sense of calm.

Exhibition open
10-4 each day / 11-3 sunday
