Only two weeks left to see Eduardo Paolozzi: General Dynamic F.U.N, a Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition from the Southbank Centre, London.

As part of a national tour, 48 screen-prints by Eduardo Paolozzi are displayed upstairs in our gallery. A pioneer of pop art, Paolozzi was revered for his mechanistic sculptures and his kaleidoscopic print projects.
Alongside General Dynamic F.U.N, our Usher Young Creatives response exhibition Saturated Digital Body is on show in the adjoining gallery room.

If you’re looking for a creative network for young people here in Lincoln, join the Usher Young Creatives!

With our Summer 2026 programme just starting, it's the perfect time to get involved. In our next session, we will be revisiting Karl Wood’s art, and creating lino prints in response.

If you are interested in joining the UYC drop an email to [email protected] or pop along to the Usher Gallery before a session for an informal chat with staff members at 4.45pm.
The Usher Young Creatives is free and open to all young people aged 16-25 years old.

Almost sold out!
Only a few tickets remain for our Paolozzi inspired Screenprinting for Families workshop next week. This workshop, aimed at ages 8 and above, is an introduction to the technique that allowed Paolozzi to create his exhibition, General Dynamic F.U.N.!

Taking place in the Clore Learning room, this workshop will involve creating a screenprinted artwork using stencil screenprinting techniques. Parents are required to stay with children.

Upstairs on the landing of the Usher Gallery are three busts by leading contemporary sculptor Thomas J. Price. This presentation, as part of the Usher Gallery rehang, highlights Price’s deep engagement with the histories of sculpture in museum and gallery collections.

Price often contrasts 'high art' and everyday materials, playing with scale and the use of plinths to call into question traditional art and museum-based value systems.

The Usher Gallery is open Thursday to Monday, 10am – 4pm.

You will wheelie like this… Art meets cycling! 🚲

As a special celebration ahead of the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix and the Lincoln Grand Prix Sportive taking place in Lincoln this weekend we are proud to announce that for one weekend only we will have ‘Le Bikes De Bois Rond’ by Gavin Turk back on display in our gallery.

This beautiful piece is a metal bike frame adapted with wooden beads using colours from Andre Cadere's 'Barres De Bois Rond' sculptures. This bicycle was first used for a series of bicycle rides in Suffolk, Essex, and Lille, France, and was included in Frieze 2010.

Happy 100th birthday to David Attenborough! 🎉

David Attenborough came to Lincoln Museum in 2014 for the preview of the exhibition ‘Joseph Banks – A Great Endeavour’, to give the opening address.

He gave an eloquent speech about Banks, detailing his important role on the Endeavour voyage, even speaking on his own endeavours in searching for birds of paradise.

Did you know that there are free to use activity bags upstairs in our Stories from the Stores gallery?

Our learning and discovery bags allow you to explore every artwork at your own pace, and make engaging with our artwork easier.

One visitor informed us that the activity bags allowed her mother, who was starting to suffer from Alzheimer’s, to interact with the artworks. She expressed how her mother absolutely loved using all the different activity bags and different ways to engage with the gallery.

Available for use by everyone regardless of age, our learning and discovery bags are part of the permanent collection at the Usher Gallery, open Thursday to Monday. 10am to 4pm.

Make the most of your visit to the Usher Gallery this bank holiday with a stroll through the grounds, whether you’re just stretching your legs, or sketching the spring scenery.

Come and see the early Anglo Saxon brooches over this bank holiday!

Our display includes one florid cruciform brooch and two great square headed brooches, all dating to the sixth century AD. Made of copper alloy with traces of gilding, these broches are fantastic examples of early Anglo Saxon craftsmanship.

The display will be at the Gallery from Saturday the 2 May until Monday the 4 May from 10am until 4pm.
