Exciting Times!!!
Our learning area in the Daniel Gumb room is changing.
We now have our Edwardian Pooley Cabinet in the room with a brand new role as our Curiosity Cabinet and it will hold items from our handling boxes.

Each of our objects will have an information card with it and the items can be picked up.

When you visit just ask one of our volunteers to open the cabinet and you’ll be able to handle the objects.

Our handling boxes are also currently getting a much needed make over, so watch this space!

UPDATE:
Thank you all for your wonderful contributions and sharing your memories of the day. We have now found an image which will be used in the upcoming display. We would still love to see your images and hear from anyone involved in the day - our Museum will be celebrating 25th years at Foresters Hall in 2027 - watch this space for more updates as we plan to mark this important milestone.

📣 COMMUNITY CALL OUT! 📣

Can you help us track down the photographer behind this photograph of King Charles III (previously HRH Prince Charles) at the official opening of Liskeard & District Museum on the 6th of June 2002?

We’re looking for the original photographer and, if possible, a hard copy of the photograph to help us tell this part of the Museum’s story.

📸 Not the photographer? If you took photographs of the same occasion – particularly OUTSIDE Foresters Hall, showing the crowds and King Charles III – we would love to hear from you too!

Our Museum team is currently working on a brand-new display telling the story of Foresters Hall. We would love to include a photograph similar to the one attached. We would ask the author to either donate the image to the Museum, or let us take a good quality scan of it. The author will be credited in the display.

HALF TERM at the museum.

This October half term we are exploring Cornish Folklore ~ Myths & Legends.

We kick off the festivities from 16th October with our FREE Family Trail plus they'll be some free, fun self led activities in the Daniel Gumb room we are then running four different myth and legends days and following feedback from the summer we are trailing a small charge for each one.

Wednesday 21st is Truth and Tales Witches day with two sessions available, learn all about witches and then make your own clay witches hat.
Age 7+
Session costs £2 per participant.
Sessions available 11:00-12:00 and 2:00-3:00

Monday 26th we'll be crashing into Cornish Knockers and making our own tin miners lanterns.
Age 7+
Session costs £2 per participant.
Sessions available 11-00-12.00 and 2:00-3:00

Wednesday 28th Discover the Green Man, where he comes from, where you might find him and then make your own green man face to take away.
Age 5+
Session costs £2 per participant
Sessions available 11:00-12:00 and 2:00-3:00

Saturday 31st Alantide is a very old Cornish festival celebrating apples, so join us for our final session to learn about this lost tradition and make your own apple print wall hanging.
Age 5+
Session costs £2.00 per participant.

Maximum ten children in any one session.
