It’s National Volunteers Week 2026! Hooray!
Our museum is run by a team of dedicated volunteers (led by our lovely manager Iga) who are passionate about keeping Liskeard’s history alive.
From volunteers such as Kevin , who can literally turn his hand to anything and keeps a watchful eye on our collections.
Brian O. who is the oracle on anything to do with the town's history.
Lizzie who comes up with the brilliant craft activities, started a home education program and runs our social media.
Hollie who helps with the crafts and heads up our Rapson digitisation project.
Aimee who also helps with the crafts and digitisation, and is currently developing a wonderful Story Sacks project looking towards Liskeard Unlocked.
Duncan and Elspeth (the dream team) who help with the digitisation project and record keeping.
Elaine who researches family history along with any other historical information.
Sally who is our resident expert on Emily Hobhouse.
There’s Graham who finds old phones and brings them back to life giving exhibitions a new angle.
Carol who keeps us ship-shape and Bristol fashion.
Our three tech support volunteers Niall, Mark and Brian C.
Rose who manages our loans collection and ensures objects are returned to our lovely lenders on time (or as close to as humanely possible!).
Phil, who looks after the vintage Toy display.
Max, a full-time teacher who helps out with creative and educational workshops where required.
Shannon, who commutes from Plymouth and lends her hand to exhibitions and family activities and trails.
Then there’s Alison who brings our amazing exhibitions to life, and sources interesting, period-appropriate props for our displays.
And finally our student volunteer John who came to us in order to earn volunteer hours towards his DofE and has since decided to stay with us as he enjoys volunteering in the museum so much!
The museum could not exist without this incredible team.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
