Museum in a Box

Museum in a Box Hello! We're an edtech company in Liverpool, and we make a Box that tells stories. It's a small, friendly Box. It's fun!

When you put a museum object on top, it'll play you a story, and you can even make your own. Tactile, interactive museum objects for your home or classroom from museums all over the world!

I am Zeus or is he?

Although he is described as Zeus of Artemision and one of our most popular Boops in the office. It's an interesting question as to whether he is Zeus or the god of the sea. What do you think?

The Broze statue was recovered from a Roman shipwreck in 1928 and the debate continues. Today the Zeus of Artemision is displayed in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.

Although, he is on display, I wonder how many items like this are in museums collections that we don't know the story behind, as they are seen?

Converting objects into stories - This feedback video from 2019 from Auckland Museum made me smile this Monday morning so thought I would share.

I love the guesses as to how many objects are in the museum's collection 😀 150, 151..... when in reality it is 3 Million.

In 2019, our Learning and Engagement team, trailed a new piece of technology called 'Museum in a Box' (https://museuminabox.org/). In this video, we captured...

Are you running an Education project but don't know where to start? We've put together some information which we hope will start to help you make the case for using MiaB especially within educational settings.

Creating projects for MiaB within education settings would be said to cover all learning styles, research with reading and listening, discussion of outcomes, to tactile learning with the creation of images or models for use with the Box.

If you have a MiaB, we'd especially be interested to hear your feedback. What other areas should we be covering, to help educators put together their first project?

We wrote a little blog post about Oral History, for two reasons really, one as the author loves oral history and the richness it captures, two is the love they have for projects such as Story Shop.

An oral history recording captures the passion and you can often hear their life written all over their voice.

Accessible Oral History projects from Museum in a Box

Oral history serves as a vital tool for preserving community experiences, providing personal narratives that enrich public memory. The Story Shop project in Oswestry exemplifies this by capturing d…

Whereas others will do unboxing videos - we do boxing photos. Or more accurately polishing and then boxing. Yes, Chris is giving these a last minute polish before sending them out of the door - halfway around the world to Hawaii.

Look at them beauties shine. 😀

The Royal Mint Museum has one of the largest fleets of Museums in Boxes - 76; and they're the most travelled. They've sent them out to over 1600 care homes all across the UK over the past four years, racking up nearly 25,000 boops!

On Adrian was working through a bunch of them that have come back to HQ for some TLC and repair work

Adrian presenting a tech talk last week at Canolfan Cefnfaes in Bethesda.

Where he spoke about Museum in a Box and its use in a broad range of settings from dementia care to scout huts, from galleries to schools. And how it makes archive collections come alive through the art of storytelling.

Props to Concrete Dog for asking us to present and for use of the photo. 😀
