Rennies Arts & Crafts was started by Ronald Rennie and Jean Rennie in 1965. The business started from selling oil paintings by Jean Rennie around the North West of England. Ronald Rennie used to frame the paintings with help from his sons, Duncan, Steven and Andrew. Every member of the family was involved in selling the paintings from key outdoor sites in the North West, such as the Bluecoat Chamb
ers in Liverpool, the waterfront at Chester and the promenade at New Brighton, Southport and Caernarfon. Ron and Jean opened several shops selling art materials and pictures, in Birkenhead and Liverpool. In 1985 Ron and Jean retired from the business, which they passed on to their two sons, Duncan and Steven. Duncan Rennie now runs the very successful art and craft material retail side of the business. Steven Rennie now runs the galleries and the picture framing arm of the business. The business employs around 25 people, with branches in Liverpool, Ormskirk and St.Helens and a workshop in Wavertree. Duncan and Steven have both stayed true to their core principle, important to any small family business - To offer the customer the best possible standard of service.
