The New Glyn Valley Tramway and Industrial Heritage Trust

We preserve the heritage and tell the stories of the Glyn Valley Tramway & the industries of the Ceiriog Valley it once served. Entrance is FREE.

Our museum visitor centre is located in Glyn Ceiriog, NE Wales. Our museum visitor centre is established in the original Glyn Valley Tramway engine shed at Glyn Ceiriog and on a substantial part of the adjacent former station site and nearby coal wharf. We care for and display a large and expanding collection of items associated with the former Glyn Valley Tramway and industries of the Ceiriog Val

ley that the tramway served from 1873 until its closure in 1935. We're open from February to mid-December on Saturdays and Bank Holiday Mondays. Open times are 10am to 4pm (March to October) and 10am to 3pm (November, December, February). Donations are invited. On-site parking, impaired mobility access and toilet facilities are available.

A carbide hand lamp as used by foremen in the local slate quarries, just one of the hundreds of exhibits on display in our Museum or accessible in our archive.

We're open today (Saturday) and on Bank Holiday Monday, 10am until 4pm. Free entry.

Our museum in Glyn Ceiriog is open today, 10am to 4pm.

Why a horse exhibit? The Glyn Valley Tramway started out as a horse-drawn tramway, operated by the Shropshire Union Railways & Canal Company, to transfer slates and later granite setts from Glyn to the canal at Gledrid, near Chirk.

Come and discover the industrial stories of the Ceiriog Valley.

UPCOMING EVENT: Please join us on 6th December for our Mulled Wine 🍷& Mince Pies 🥧 festive open day, with a Christmas sales table selling lovely hand-crafted cards and decorations.

10am to 4pm at our Museum in Glyn Ceiriog, and 10am to 1pm at the former GVT Waiting Room in Pontfadog.
