Just down the road from us is Newtown Textile Museum which highlights and celebrates mid wales' flannel and textile heritage. Its free, they have a new kids corner! Brilliant half term day out!

Call for artists and makers from the Mid Wales area to sell contemporary creative and craft items during our flagship exhibition this summer. The exhibition runs from the 4th July to to 31st August and is centred around the theme Kaleidescope. We're particularly interested in items that celebrate our theme or / and are textile focused.

Stalls can be booked in 4 week blocks.

Curves can add interesting lines and shapes to patchwork and are often thought to be tricky! Join Lynn Kinsey as she demystifies the process and teaches techniques to help you achieve excellent results.

This workshop is suitable for all levels and can be completed by hand or machine.

We're growing our Trustee team! Are you ready to join us?

We're currently looking for general Trustees, and a Trustee Treasurer, to support the development and sustainability of The Quilt Association. You'll be joining a small committed and passionate team with lots of opportunity to make a difference.

If you're interested in the arts and heritage, quilts and quilting, being a trustee might be the first step, or the next step, in your career or your retirement! We're interested to hear from people of all ages, all backgrounds, all genders. We are based in Mid Wales, but you can be based anywhere within Wales, or the UK.

During our most recent documentation session last week, we discovered that this quilt had been made by a teenager during World War 1, with just a little help from her mother!

This is such a stunning quilt, the detail, the stitching, the fabric, all beautiful and beautifully executed.

We speculated that perhaps this was made for the young woman's 'bottom drawer' which was a new concept for some of us! In times gone by, just as women were 'coming of age', the family would start gathering linens, quilts and sentimental items, all forming part of a future bride's trousseau! If the woman married, they would go with her to her new home.

This quilt was destined to be kept for a long time. It had light signs of wear and fading but was in ever such good condition! The quilting was inspiring! We're definitely looking forward to showing this one in a future exhibition!

Our new exhibition is opening today with Welsh Heritage Quilters at the helm! Stories of Hiraeth in stitches and quilts.
This morning at 11am, we'll be joined by the high sheriff of Powys and a harpist playing some beautiful Welsh songs. Come a long and explore the exhibition, free entry.
