Today Loddon Town Council opened the Warren Hills woodland project. This is a piece of woodland that has been inaccessible for many years but has now been opened up as a woodland walk with benches for walkers to stop and take in the scenery. A fantastic project, thanks to grants from South Norfolk Council and the WoodlandTrust.

I am so proud of our Children's Services today. We have received a rating from Ofsted of Outstanding in every category.
That puts Norfolk in the top 2% of County Councils in the country.

This victory is the achievement of our staff under the Directorship of Sara Tough, and alongside our partners. Together as a team they have enabled us to raise standards across the board for the children of Norfolk.

Well done and congratulations to all those involved, and I think I can be forgiven for noting that this was done under a Conservative administration with Penny Carpenter as the most recent portfolio holder.
We have consistently supported the department, giving it the funding and flexibility it needed, to enable a reorganisation of services, and in the face of increasing demand and constrained budgets. We applaud this magnificent result, which is due to their dedication and hard work.
Thank you to all the staff involved, you are all champions.

This is the political and Senior Management team responsible over the last 10 years who worked for this improvement.

UPDATE - Norfolk County Council have just received the legal advice from the Kings Counsel that we engaged and have sent a Pre Action Letter to Steve Reed the Secretary of State, challenging the decision on Local Government Reorganisation.

And So It Starts

Reform are claiming to be doing something that was already in process.
The decision of the government on LGR seems irrational and that needs to be tested, so the Conservative administration at Norfolk County Council had written to the government asking for their reasoning behind the decision, we also put in Freedom of Information requests and had consulted a KC to look at options for a possible legal challenge. We are awaiting that advice before deciding, but any challenge has to have a firm legal footing or it is a waste of taxpayers money.
Reform haven't done anything yet, they are not even in office and don't have a majority. So their claim that "the directors had already drawn things up, as they anticipated Reform were going to oppose it" is arrogance of the greatest degree. It is true that officers were exploring the possibilities on behalf of the administration, the Conservative administration.
Mr Bick is just a Johnny Come Lately riding on our coat tails. Next thing he will be telling you is that Reform invented the wheel!
The LGR decision looks to be irrational and based on a political decision, if it is, we should all be opposing it.
