First appearing on the back door of the iconic Egyptian Theater during the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Banksy’s ‘3D Rat’ arrived alongside a series of street works promoting the premiere of Exit Through the Gift Shop.

Featuring the artist’s signature rat motif, 3D Rat with Glasses and Fly plays with illusion and depth through anaglyph-style 3D glasses, as flies appear to burst beyond the frame itself. Both playful and provocative, the work reflects Banksy’s ongoing dialogue between street art, spectacle, and public attention. Most recently, it featured in Andipa’s ‘London to Athens’ exhibition which included seven striking works by Banksy: four paintings and three prints. This week, a new sculpture by appeared on a plinth on Waterloo Place, St James’ that depicted a suited man carrying a flag, his face covered in the flag’s material as he appears to step off the plinth. Director of Andipa, Acoris, says: “For me it’s about blind patriotism; it’s about geo-politics and somebody moving forward with complete conviction, without seeing where he’s going”.
