Francis Bacon, Triptych August 1972, 1989. Complete Hand Signed and Numbered Triptych of Lithographs in Colours on Arches Wove Papers.
__________

This work is one in a series of Bacon’s ‘Black Triptychs’ which followed the su***de of his lover, George Dyer. Dyer appears on the left and Bacon on the right. The central group is derived from a photograph of wrestlers by Edward Muybridge, but also suggests a more sexual encounter. The seated figures and their coupling are set against black voids and the central flurry has been seen as ‘a life-and-death struggle’.

See this work and more at our stand this week (AM217).

Andy Warhol, Committee 2000, Original Hand Signed and Numbered Screenprint, 1982.

________

This glamorous image of champagne coupes doused in confetti was derived from a Polaroid photograph and created for the eponymous Committee 2000 in Munich, a group who gathered to raise funds for arts-related initiatives set to take place in the new millennium. A distinctly ‘Pop’ reimagining of the still-life, Warhol’s work uses a neon palette and distorted outlines to reflect the hazy decadence of the New York nightclub scene of which he was a staple.

This work will be on display at our stand at Art Miami from Dec 3 – Dec 8. 🥂
