Tickets are on sale for The Music is Black: A British Story, opening at the brand new V&A East Museum in Stratford on Saturday 18 April 2026.

Celebrating 125 years of Black music making in Britain, this multisensory exhibition spans four continents and explores the profound impact of Black artistry on British music, culture and beyond.

Expect iconic objects and images including Winifred Atwell’s piano, fashion worn by Little Simz, Seal, Dame Shirley Bassey and Skin, plus newly acquired photographs of Kemistry and Storm, Mis Tee q, Jammer and crew, and more.

Weekdays £22.50 and weekends £24.50 including donation. Discounts available for students and concessions. Advance booking recommended.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We left in Glasgow inspired and full of questions.

As the UK’s only Accredited Museum dedicated to women’s lives and achievements, Glasgow Women’s Library has grown from a grassroots collective in 1991 into a national treasure; preserving, sharing and championing women’s stories for over three decades.

From handmade zines to heritage walks and a vibrant lending library, Glasgow Women's Library shows what is possible when women’s voices, creativity and histories are valued and made visible.

Their journey, shaped by thousands of contributors, reminds us that archives are built by communities, not just institutions.

Which stories are preserved? Who decides what is remembered? How do we ensure women’s histories, often hidden or overlooked, are part of our shared memory?

Thank you to the GWL team for your warm welcome and for leading the way in making space for every woman’s experience.

We left energised, curious and committed to asking bigger questions about memory, representation and belonging.

Scenes from the incredible Anti Racist Cumbria Summit in Keswick!

It was a privilege for Museum X founder Sandra Shakespeare to join the Arts & Culture panel alongside Zandra Yeaman , Anoushka Khandwala , and Dr Darren Chetty, deep-diving what anti-racism really looks like in practice across art, education, and museums.

From powerful keynotes by Lemn Sissay and conversations with Kimberly McIntosh, to comedy from Nish Kumar and nourishing moments with new friends, this year’s ARC Summit was a joyful, thought-provoking and energising festival of Black Joy and Allied Activism.

Special thanks to Anti Racist Cumbria for their warm welcome, to Janett Walker and the whole team, and to everyone who joined the workshops, panels, and literary tent for open, honest and hopeful conversations.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on Saturday for the African Legacies Walk with artist and creative learning practitioner Remiiya Badru .

We walked from East India to West India Quay and the Museum of London Docklands, tracing stories of migration, resilience and belonging.

We walked from .ldn East India to West India Quay and Docklands, tracing stories of migration, resilience and belonging along the Thames.

The weather held for us and it was wonderful to see such a great turnout. Thank you for bringing your curiosity, energy and reflections to the day!

This walk was part of Museum X’s Black History Month series at .ldn , in collaboration with collector Julie Elizabeth .outreach.tiger and curator Annette Fernando , and funded by Tower Hamlets CVS Community Sparks grants programme.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch of “What Does a Collector Collect?” at .ldn last week.

The room was full of conversation and genuine connection, exactly what we'd hoped for. Everyone brought such insight and warmth to the evening.

It was a joy to be in conversation with , , Natasha Muluswela , Love Hannington , Julie Elizabeth .outreach.tiger . I also bumped into Miranda Lowe CBE and Louise McCoy.

The exhibition runs until 31 October and there’s still so much to come.
