For Art Basel Qatar, Nour Jaouda presents

A House Between Two Houses

as part of the fairs Special Projects program.

On view from 5 - 7 February at M7, Lobby.

Nour Jaouda’s (b. 1997, Tripoli, Libya) project constructs an imagined “rest house” structure rendered through intersecting steel walls, layered architectural drawings, and suspended textile fragments, forming a space shaped by emotional subjectivity, memory, and imagination rather than fixed geography. The installation titled ‘A House Between Two Houses’ embodies a process of continual becoming; its skeletal, scaffold-like form houses dyed textile glimpses of a forgotten landscape, dissolving boundaries between rural and urban, past and future, idea and material realisation.

Join us for cocktails at 17 Goulston St on 17 September from 6-8 pm, to celebrate the opening of Chason Matthams’s solo exhibition, ‘Hardly at all and through and through’.

“Chason Matthams’ focus is on capturing the ephemeral experience of consciousness and pointing to its fragmentary nature. While at first glance his paintings seem to be contemplative experiments in mimesis, prolonged looking reveals threatening undertones. Matthams’ employs specific combinations of colors, angles of perspective, and exhaustive detail to anthropomorphize each of his subjects, rendering them just barely sinister. Flitting between mechanical and organic objects, Matthams’ exacting brushwork is the connective thread leading our eye through every sumptuous detail.”
